Yup, I also missed MGMT (we had stopped for lunch before proceeding to the venue). Standouts were the Phenomenauts, Santogold, MSTRKRFT and Moby.

I missed part of MGMT (I arrived as they were starting, and saw part from the security line, then had to loop around to the stage). They were eh...

Aww, the Fillmore would be a great venue to see them in. I used to be really into 311 in the time between when Music and Soundsystem came out. Seen them at Jones Beach, HOB Atlantic City and SF Design Center. It's a shame they have been reduced to playing a Live 105 show, I fear it will be nothing like a real 311 show.

Yeah the Fillmore was a perfect fit for them. The time I saw them in '96 was for an AZ Radio Festival and it wasn't all that great.

Same here.. I actually had some fun last year, even with the ultra-annoying crowd.

There's only 5 out of 36 acts I want to see here, but the YYY's and Metric might sell it me by themselves.

what? isn't this thing taking place in the parking lot like last year? or when they say "main stage" they mean the headliners will actually be playing on the shoreline amphitheater stage? this would make it much more worth it to me. the set-up last year, while efficient, kinda sucked for the bigger acts.

It is taking place in the parking lot, but YYYs, 311 and The Offsping will be in the amphitheatre.

They seem to go back and forth between those types of setups. Yes, reserved seating sales mean that the entire show is not just GA, there will be assigned seating and lawn seating for the portion of the acts who are in the amphitheatre. Not just the headliners - probably approx 1/3-1/2 the acts as they've done in the past (alternating stages).

I actually liked the way they did it last year

oh im going with a friend, buying the 25 dollar ticket

went last year and had a pretty good time, saw pennywise and cypress hill during the day and got to dance to moby to end the night- not bad at all. like the lineup better this year so this is a no brainer imo.

I ended up buying reserved seating because I'd like to be somewhat close for YYYs. I am in C which I think is about 10 rows back, in the center section. Unfortunately I think any of my friends that are going will be getting lawn tickets.

WTF? How did you get better tickets than me? Did you order them right at 10am? I am in one of the side sections. I retried for center a couple times, but 200 section tickets started coming up.

Nope, I just ordered about 30 min ago. The first one that came up for me was even closer, but section 101. I am in the middle of a row though so it may be that it's a single seat. (My friends are on the fence and I decided not to wait).

Strange... My ticket buying luck has been off lately. I've never been on the side sections at Shoreline, but haven't heard good things.

The Shoreline isn't a very good venue, especially for lawn seats; it wasn't great when it was built and it's aging badly.

That said, $25 to see: glasvegas, zion I, DJ-AM, steve aoki, and the offspring ... seems like a no-brainer.

BS, I have a few times and think they're find in the lower tier. When you get further up the sound can be off, but it's not been consistent for me, so it could be sloppy tech or something.

Thx! Good to hear. Even though the Subsonic Tent line up isn't as good this year, I more excited for this overall line up than 2008.

When I was there in 2004 they waited until later in the day to start up the Main Amphitheater Stage. I don't remember if all the other stages were finished by then or not. Basically the reserved seating will only come into effect for the 3 headliners (The Offspring, 311 and Yeah Yeah Yeahs).

For the Download Festival in '06 I sat midway up section 101 and the sound/view wasn't bad at all.

I saw Arcade Fire and LCD Soundsystem at Shoreline and both were great from the lawn.

I don't have the money to pay twice as much just to see Yeah Yeah Yeahs up close, although I would want to normally. General Admission for me.

I spent most of my time at the Festival stage last year but this year I think I'll be alternating between all four stages, mostly subsonic. Haven't seen Zion-I in a while!

I saw them ^^^ from the 200's area and it was great. I've seen several shows from the lawn at shoreline (even back of the lawn) and they were fine. The only time it's been problematic is when it rains.

Got my tickets. The processing fee is $9, which is astronimical as a percentage of a $25 ticket.
