Default Morrissey gags on 'smell of burning flesh'

He said, "I hope that's the smell of human flesh burning." Totally choked up and gagged his way through Some Girls and left the stage only to come back and gag some more. Anybody catch this??? Yes I eat cow I am not proud.

After he said that the smell of hamburgers cooking really intensified. Could barely smell them from the front row till he started talking.

Someone heard him and threw a bunch more patties on the grill?

A few songs in he asked how it sounded 'out there' and said 'not so good up here.' He did keep grabbing at his ear.

i was in the photo pit for the first 3 songs. he did not seem comfortable for the opening three songs. not sure why. i never saw him signal any crew so i assume everything was fine at that point.

To be fair, I walked around looking for BBQ all day and could not find any. Three minutes before Morrissey said anything, I sniffed in the air and said to myself, "is that tri tip"? Trust me, it was the smell of tri tip.

I loved when he said, "could this possibly get any worse!"

was I the only one who wasn't offended by the comment and actually found a lot of humor in it? Seriously, I thought it was quite funny and it just added to the set for me.

I suppose if you were expecting him to act like a douchebag and were ok with that then it wouldn't have been an issue.

Edit: Then again I didn't actually hear the line so I may be taking it out of context a bit.

I always thought (this was only my 2nd time seeing him) Moz = Douchebag comments. Or maybe it was because I was distracted by the amount of Smith's songs he played? It could be a mix of both.

    I agree.

FWIW, I enjoyed his set via webcast.

I went and saw Girl Talk instead. I was not disappointed for doing so! They were off the hook! Yeah Morrissey was being whiney with the talk of the "burning flesh"

This set = trainwreck, thanks to the technical difficulties. Wish I'd gone to Beirut/Girl Talk instead.

Please tell me someone videotaped the "burning flesh" comment. We were all at Girl Talk (and so glad about it... he was our favorite act on Friday) and missed it.

Morrissey = Biggest douche ever. Been that way since the first days of the Smiths. The guy deserves no one's adulation. Pricks like him should be forced to perform menial labor for the rest of their lives.

    But whatever... I'm not bitter.

I wouldn't have really minded it but I honestly thought he was trying to use it as an excuse to complain/suck.

He was clearly having sound issues because like others said he kept touching his ear piece.

I can except the guy is a massive douche as long as he can attempt to get over it and put on a good show. I don't really feel like he did that though. He messed up lines, cut off others, and complained.

He was good when he trying, but going to Moz vs Beirut was a big conflict for me that I left my friends decide. I wasn't too pleased with the result.

A couple of Brits I know (who are big Morrisey fan's) said they found him 'a bit off and narky'(translation=spoilt, sulky brat). I think this is par for the course for Morrisey, he never seems to enjoy doing festivals and throws out little snidey comments. Echo & the Bunnymen/Ian McCulloch are usually just the same.
