Yeah I think the "golden years" have passed but now its just all about maintaining the level of talent that can be on the line up year after year. f**k the Arctic Monkeys, I hope they play the Mojave at night so I dont have to deal with it....
It can happen and it wont even be an arena tour either, just big theatres to at least please the core following. I think they will do a couple warm up shows beforehand. No way they go on that stage just having rehearsals on their belt.
im gonna die
Did someone really mention 'Travis' playing ????? I hadn't seen that one yet.. would be very very nice if they were..
I'm not at all interested in this years headliners, Rage Against the Machine, B-Dork, Red Cold Chili Peppers.... I guess Coachella has made me a spoiled beoochh over the years... I'll wait to see the EDM and Hip Hop acts announced before I start feeling out this year... 3 days could be very very fun, and more time to rock out.. Anyway.. this is like Christmas.. I want the damn line up to be out and out now.. hurry up..

True. Tool also weren't totally off the radar for that long, though. Only a few years.

no. you sir are an idiot.
I could tell how coachella was going to be when i saw last years lineup. Although it was a little better than I expected (daft punk!) it was almost exactly as I thought from the get go.
The headliners determine how the entire festival will be.
Thus, this year, so far, is better than last year.
I'm hyped for it, unlike last year when i was just going to go.
RATM is great news.
but where the F are the smashing pumpkins! WHY ARENT THEY PLAYING>?
I'm just gonna go out on a limb and say that Radiohead, The Cure, NIN, Tool, and Depeche Mode are the best headliners Coachella has ever had. And probably ever will if they're so keen on recycling shit now. That is true that the headliners don't make the festival though. You can (usually) see the headliners just about anywhere, so it really shouldn't matter who's on top. It's all the wonderful unexpected and exclusive surprises underneath that's the most appealing.

so what do you guys think now?
now that this amazing list has surfaced?
i think you're full of shit if you don't presume that this will be better than last year or one of the best years ever.
so far, I'm still thinking last year's...but this isn't the full lineup yet
OK - now withthe full lineup, I am willing to say this is better than last year's. But the headliners aren't what make it so.
Also - the title of this thread indicates thhat there's ususally a thread like this. Actually, there's usually a thread sayinf "last year was SO much better", "This year SUCKS", etc.etc.etc...
I would say this lineup is receiving the most positive feedback upon release since '04.
Hunting has been part of our society since the first Europeans came over and shot buffalo and Native Americans and whatnot.

Awesome job Goldenvoice. I can't wait.
no dig against past years, but the fantastic lineup makes me think that i will enjoy this year more.
Conscious Wordsmith "Souleye" will be freestyling in the Do-Lab Dome all 3 days, just sent the contract this morning.

I'm in love with this lineup. I mean, I'm really, really in love with this lineup.
I don't know where to begin. I just woke up to see the full list. So, So psyched.
The Fields!!! Jarvis Cocker!!! In terms of number of acts I want to see, this is the best year (including 2004). I've seen RATM a couple times and the energy level is unmatched. I've seen RHCP 2 times (3x if you count that shitball known as their Lolla '06 set) and will not be seeing them again. But fukkin A, what a lineup. Super-duper. Neato gang.

Two words:
Daft Punk.
Don't get me wrong. Rage will (probably) be fantastic. But seeing Daft Punk would be more than I could handle. Too bad I live 3000 miles away...anyone carpooling from New England?
I've been more psyched about headliners for past festivals - but the backup and supporting acts this year really trump the past few years for me.
I'm so excited - and I think that with the addition of an extra day, this year WILL kick last year's ass.
I'm not sure who you think of as "our" audience. I know RATM has a long history with Coachella, going back to the first one, but I really would like to think that "our" audience had gotten a bit more sophisticated than a washed-up 90s holdover pseudo-underground act notable primarily for adolescent, safe, and shallow political posturing and RAWKIN' guitar.
If you think the RHCP are better than Depeche Mode, I really can't say I take your opinion seriously as far as music goes. Even if you like Bjork.
Well, that's clearly the standard by which we judge things. Whether or not NoGwenPlease knows the songs.
Seriously, fuck RHCP, but I'm honestly happier when there are crappy headliners. It means I don't have to fight the crowds to see the people I want to see.
Agreed. Totally.
Eh. Never been a big enough Radiohead fan to fight the crowd for them. I went over and checked out Eyedea and Abilities instead.
Are we even talking about the same festival?
Honestly, I'm kind of so-so on supporting acts so far this year. There are people I want to see, but some glaring absences remain (the Knife, Asobi Seksu). Day One and Day Three seem pretty solid, but there are only a handful of people I want to see on Day Two (Arcade Fire, MSTRKRFT, Ghostface, New Pornographers).
But, of course, Day Two is right smack in the middle of the weekend, and so it's not like I'm going to go to Days One and Three and just go home and have tea and crumpets all day Saturday. But is it worth shelling out the big bucks for the three-day tickets if I'm not super-psyched about Day Two?
I'm a bit underwhelmed, I guess. Maybe I'm just spoiled from previous years.
This will be our first Coachella, and being from another land famous for it's Big Day Out and Falls Festivals, we don't get to see many of the acts listed on this years bill...
and like has been mentioned before, I am gonna cum all over myself (and my lady too), cos' the line-up is fucken awesome.
Music Is Crap.
as long as I hear "Charlie" (RHCP) this will be the best...
this is my first Coachella but I have been threw many festivals
can't wait to experience this three day show!!
"everybody do the twist......move around like a scientist"
i die with you
E & a over Radiohead? and you're giving me shit for never seeing red hot chillipeppers, growing up on them, and wanting to see them more than depeche mode.. who I actually did see and was underwhelmed by?
Your opinion is just as good if not worse than mine, so don't write long ass posts trying to discredit me.
yea! i just bought the 3day pass cuz i had a strong feeling day 3 would sell out fast. i was then gonna buy day 1 (which is still for sale), but figured it was safer to go with the 3day pass. i sooo agree with you, day 2 is kinda lame from my point of view. bjork on day one is gold and both rage and manu chao make up day 3, so day 2 is kinda like, eh. i really hope they add someone big that i've been wanting to watch or have seen that rocks.
i'd love:
reunion of the fugees or lauryn hill

devendra banhart

something!
