either Forest for the Trees or Kosheen in 2002, can't remember the order they came on in. Oddly enough, two of the acts I was most looking forward to seeing that day! FftT didn't really come through, but Kosheen were absolutely amazing and still one of my favorite Chella performances to this day.

What's funny is my first "WTF" Coachella experience followed the next day with **** Pong Bitches who were the first Sunday act. Nothing beats the blazing sun, an utter and complete lack of crowd (seriously, maybe 25 people tops), to watch three Japanese girls shout Atari Teenage Riot esque raps in broken english and make sentai poses while some random dude plays terrible digital hardcore records behind them.

Nope they did not. The crowd started chanting it about 3 songs before they finished. And when they said they had one more song and it wasn't Stacy's Mom, just about everyone left. I know I did

John Butler Trio blew my mind! They were on stage early on Friday afternoon. I knew if these were the starting group the festival was about to be out of my mind amazing!

Saul Williams in 2002. We went for bjork, didn't even know it was a festival, figured it out by listening to the radio during our roadtrip the closer we got. I was doing slam poetry nights at that time and was totally stoked to have caught him onstage. I thought no one else knew about him, or even lots of other acts that day. It was so great to see an actual crowd in the middle of the desert listen to him. My mind was blown.

2002: I went with a couple friends not knowing what to expect. As much as it pains me to say this, G. Love & Special Sauce were technically the first band I caught that day. He was unable to pop my cherry.

The beer garden kept my cherry well lubricated most of the day and then Bjork worked me over real good to finish the deed. I was convinced she was gonna fly into the crowd (maybe she did?). She is why I keep coming back. Sank you Bjork

Baroness in the Mojave tent @ 2:00 pm, Friday April 16, 2010.

I was slowly making my way over to the tent with my friends, none of whom were familiar with Baroness, when I heard them starting to play "Rays On Pinion," my favorite song by them. I immediately sprinted towards the tent. They put on one hell of a show even while John struggled with 10 minutes of technical problems. The rest of the band busted out an awesome psychedelic jam session, while they took care of the problem.

Who was the very first act you saw at your very first Coachella, around noon or 1:30 or whenever you had had your fill with the fans or the energy bikes? Will you always remember this act as part of your Coachella experience or is it completely forgettable?

The Octopus Project popped my cherry on Sunday 2006. They came on at noon and were one of the few acts I saw outside of the mainstage. I called my girlfriend at the time, who had gotten me into them, while "The Adjustor" was playing and she got angry and impatient and hung up because she was so jealous.

That's when I knew how great Coachella was. (The Octopus Project needs to be invited back btw)

So who gave you your first memory and began your long road to obsession with the best music festival in America? Rogue Wave? Comedians of Comedy? The Killurz?

Funny that Octopus Project was also the very first act I saw at Coachella in '06
