Ok, this is coachella guys, its gonna be 95 degrees out. dont be a fool and wear matchstick jeans cause they're cool. Do your self a flavor and me, keep yourself comfortable and happy. Khaki shorts work fine, or boardshorts and will keep you from getting irritable in the heat. as for the ladies...we know what they can wear!

I remember when coachella had a bunch of fairy dancers with flowing hippie skirts. The big deal was giving them space so they could dance free in the wind.
The times change, I've over it.
And back in the 60's the term hippie was coined from the word hipster. So its all recycled really.
I'm not too concerned with what people wear. I love how happy everyone is to be there. I have never met an angry person in the 7 years I've been. I love the happy faces, wear whatever, just have fun. If you're there for the scene, see some cool bands too, and if you can, hook up with some babes/dudes.

no no, you are still missing the point. i'm not saying cobain's pants are as tight as hipsters, but rather illustrating that the enormo-pants phenomenon was more in full-swing by the time linkin park and rap-metal were most popular, not as early as the grunge era, as the previous poster was claiming. the trend arose more out of hip hop culture and its influence on mainstream rock.
