damn. i left a little early to see Youth Brigade and The Adolescents... i guess i missed more than i thought. Oh well, it was worth it.
This ain't no middle of the mall shit.
Solid show but nowhere near one of my favorite Wilco performances. I had a great seat, 7th row center. The sound was good where I was sitting. I thought the band sounded like a well oiled machine. Pat Sansone looks like he aged about 40 years with his Tom Petty gray beard. Handshake Drugs through the end was the best part of the show. I've seen so many Wilco shows it's hard not to dwell on the weaker songs they played. I really wish they would go back to playing Spiders instead of Bull Black Nova. I prefer their experimental sound a bit more and Bull Black Nova sounds to me like they felt they should turn Spiders into something more palatable. Nels makes Hotel Arizona an even better song and i'm glad they played it even if Jeff Tweedy doesn't remember the last time he played Tempe which was November of 2004 and quite possibly my favorite Wilco concert next to Night One of their Chicago Winter Residency a few yeas back. Here is the setlist from the last Tempe show. The fan vote song Being There's 'Was I In Your Dreams" is also one of my least favorite songs from that album. I was kind of surprised to hear it played last night but it's such a ho hum song to me. /spoiled Wilco fan rant.

Mark I saw you while I was waiting in line for a beer but you were too far away to get your attention then you were gone and I didnt' see you again.
I thought last night's show was pretty good, certainly not the best I've ever seen them but definitely worthwhile. I only like about half (if that) of The Whole Love so it was about what I'd expected. I am always happy to get "Box Full of Letters".. that or "Too Far Apart" or "Casino Queen".
Gammage is a ridiculous place for a show like this though. They ran out of beer half an hour before Wilco even came onstage. At least the sound was better than Comerica.
edit also Mark I agree that Tempe show in 04 was amazing. one of my Top 3 Wilco Shows Ever.
Sick poster for tonight's show in San Diego. Nate Duval is the artist, and it's printed with metallic inks.

I'm excited for the show tonight. I had no idea that White Denim was the opener. Get there early if you can, those guys definitely worth checking out.
They had good crowd reception here and the guitar is great but just a bit to jammy for me personally. I would agree they are worth checking out.

Oh man. I would have payed double to trade you set lists. Double. This is what happens when a band knows every song in their catalog, diverse set lists.
I Got You
You Are My Face
Kamera
I Must Be High
FUCKING Candyfloss!
and then closing with Monday, Outtasite and The Lonely One.
Very very nice! Monday into Outtasite is always fun and high energy.
This is pretty great.
Great setlist!! I've said it before, and I'll say it again. Nils Cline is my favorite guitarist on the planet. The guy just destroys from start to finish. He was on fire last night.

cool show last night
though i'm not a fan of or familiar with anything before summerteeth i did enjoy some of those tracks live
an ideal set for me would be heavy on yankee hotel, ghost is born, summerteeth, and sky blue sky
my favorites of the night were 'you are my face' 'impossible germany' 'jesus etc' and 'hummingbird'

Gotta check out those albums more dude. Some of their best material, imo.
edit: Kamera--->War on War and Candyfloss--->The Lonely 1 were amazing runs of GREAT tracks... They made me love Capitol City, and I don't usually like it that much.
Ending the show with The Lonely 1 as some of the people had already left was an awesome moment as well.
