This news hit a while ago, but it was never posted here:

Empire Of The Sun Reveal Huge Plans For Live Shows
They plan to create an army of colour...

Empire of the Sun have revealed ambituous plans for their first live shows during this afternoon's Webchat Wednesday on Gigwise.

Responding to fans questions about when the duo would be entering the live arena Nick Littlemore announced that the shows would be “like masquerade balls”.

Describing the ethos behind the shows Littlemore said, “We are getting together a sort of army of colour. What you'll need to do is create these great costumes and send them into a database. It's a blissful army where we are all equal.”

He added: “The gigs will be like masquerade balls, where the band and the fans are all the same. You create your own cosmic designs.

“Backgrounds (to the stage) shot in actual jungle, possibly Cambodia, South East Asia or Mexico, then remade in the studio, a massive black room – the snow globe (from the bands album artwork) sitting in the eye of a skull.”

Littlemore also revealed that the scale of production may also restrict them from playing at any festivals this summer.

He explained: “No festivals. Our show is far too big, it takes 3 days to set up plus the animals and pyrotechnics etc...”

Empire of the Sun's debut album 'Walking On A Dream' was released this week in the UK.

those two songs in the first post have been on my workout playlist for sometime now. there's been quite a bit of addictive synth-based tunes originating from the land down under in recent years, wonder why...

the proposed production for their live shows sounds as ridiculous as their videos look. but i'd still probably catch them on tour if they ever hit the States.

    Lucky Australians...

Empire Of The Sun are currently planning their debut live show, a headline slot at Sydney's Parklife Festival, on September 27.

Steele joked that he wants to get chef Gordon Ramsay to perform a cook-off onstage, and added that he has asked director Steven Spielberg (who directed the film the band took their name from) to appear.

"We've asked Steven Spielberg to fly in on a helicopter and host the event," he laughed. "His movie inspired the name of our band so we want to include him."

    Good news, and bad news...

Luke Steele says Empire Of The Sun bandmate has 'disappeared'

Empire Of The Sun singer Luke Steele says his bandmate Nick Littlemore has not been in contact with him for five months.

According to Steele, Littlemore "disappeared" from Empire Of The Sun, and the frontman says he doesn't even know where his collaborator is living at the moment, reports ABC.

"He disappeared about five months ago and I haven't really heard from him," Steele said. "Last I heard he's in Canada and then he's in Vegas. [But] as my dad always says, you've got to keep the show on the road."

Littlemore, who also fronts Pnau, hasn't appeared in either of Empire Of The Sun's last two videos, 'Standing On the Shore' and 'Without You'.

When asked if Littlemore was still in the band, Steele's response was: "I really don't know. He's just left me with the baby."

Steele said he is currently putting the final touches to Empire Of The Sun's debut live shows, which are due to take place at Australia's Parklife music festivals starting in Brisbane on September 26. He has drafted in Adelaide band The Swiss to be his backing band for the shows.

The singer also revealed that he has almost finished writing a new album for his other band The Sleepy Jackson, and confirmed that he plans to bring Empire Of The Sun's live show overseas next year.

"I think my middle name should be workaholic. It never stops," he said.

How the fuck does a band get so big in a country without having ever played a show? That shit pisses me off.

They are both from Australia, and they were both in bands that are popular in Australia. That show was in Australia. Makes sense to me.

Don't know either of them... but I guess if they were big in Australia before, then it does make sense. I thought these were just two nobodie who made an album and got big out of nowhere.

Justice played shows long before Cross came out. They also got a lot of acclaim and attention for their "We Are Your Friends" remix. So yes, they are two nobodies who made a huge album... but at least they were working their way up through the ranks and playing shows.

Lovers by the Sleepy Jackson is, in my opinion, one of the best albums of the decade. You should check it out.

So, it turns out that Nick Littlemore wouldn't talk to Luke Steel because he was "too busy working with Elton John and Cirque du Soleil" and just kind of forgot. Oh, and also his phone got wet and he hasn't replaced it yet. Still not confirmed whether or not he is still in Empire of the Sun.
