i'm homeless but discouraged. i think i'll just be buying the camping pass to party saturday night and skip sunday altogether.
I'm interested. I'm theoretically a member of the unofficial group, but that's one of the ones where people aren't responding to PMs.
Name: Robrt West
Arriving: probably midnight-1 on thursday night
Where I'm coming from: SF Bay area
How long i'm staying: through Monday morning. (trying to be back in SF for a 6.30pm class Monday night)
Something special to contribute to the group: unsure. hugs, maybe, if the group is into that.
My name is Aaryn
I'll be there Thursday probably before 5
I'M from Temecula which is about an hour away from Coachella
I'll be there Thurs night through Monday morning
I'm not sure what I can contribute other than I have been to every coachella since 2000 so maybe some advice
Aaryn, gotcha...see you there
HockeyKid53 - *laugh* the comment you're responding to is from 2008!
Mitch - AFAIK most of us are going weekend 1, not weekend 2. I might be wrong, though.
So my sense is, we have [WKND1]:
* grifter + cousin
* joy (but not paying attention yet)
* ride a tire! (maybe?)
* ibuprofane (maybe?)
I've spoken with both Aaryn and Ed; neither of them made it. Ed is taking his girlfriend to a festival in Napa.
so there are ppl attending both weekends?! why not! I mean, then your chance to see bands/artists u missed before...I wonder how that is for them bands, what weekend they are "better" (you know, a bit like theater performances...) and the temperature-differences...
anyway, I see the best part comes just before when its time to coordinate everyone/every spot its fun to see for a 1st time I guess you guys know how many ppl fit in one spot...btw could anyone post the general area plan?
1st time in the US!!! ...starting with Coachella!!!
hey, would anybody be willing to let me and 2 of my friends stay on your spot for weekend 1, we already have a companion spot and we'll pay you whatever.
haha another temecula native? neato! i am as well.. we'll have to meet up.
haha. this group already has 2 people who from un-official camp group.
me,too. and i'd like to join this group.
my name is Carlos Shin.(actually it's not my real name.but maybe you guys are
hard to pronunce my real name. just call me carlos!)
i'll be there Friday afternoon. hmm..i'm worry how to find you guys.
but i can't go early.
i'm from Seoul,South Korea.
It's my first time to visit US. i'm little bit nervous and excited!
I'll stay there until 20 morning.
and contribution..frankly i have no idea but i'll do my best to have a fun!
Hmm. I can bring a portuguese flag and we can hang it from a canopy or tent or something, which will indicate where we are; that will make it easier to find us. (Of course, if we're not the only people with a portuguese flag, it won't help. )
Hello. Obviously I'm super last minute, but I would love to join this group, if possible. My name is Garfield. I am from Vancouver, and I've never been to Coachella, or any festival like it for that matter so don't really know how all this works. Thanks,
You're in man...I will PM everybody my cell phone number. When I get to the campground on Thursday I will set aside a space for all of us depending on head count and then you can just call me as you come and I will let you know where it's at.....it's getting close!!!!!!!!!
I'm going to be camping alone this year too...May I join your posse?
My name is Brittany (I'm 21). I am from Sacramento, CA and I am trying to find a ride that leaves on Thursday so that I can set up camp. This is my third year at Coachella, second time camping. I have a tent that fits two and I'll be bringing some snacks/cooler.
I'm going to try to fit some cards and maybe my mancala board so that we can do something during the hot morning.
I am planning on leaving Monday morning so I can get back to northern California before Tuesday (That is if I can find a ride)
What do you say?
No, I don't think that is necessary. I am talking with a co-worker who I know is going and camping and they are leaving from Sacramento, so it works out better that way. Thank you for the offer though!
How does this work? do we meet at the gate or something and then set up camp? Last time I camped, they escorted us to the plot where we were told to set up.
also, (this may seem lame, but what does PM mean?)
Here's the official word from the Coachella website so as long as I get there first and everybody calls me to find out where we are at, ahould work out beautifully:
Can we/How can we camp next to each other if we are not arriving together?
This is a tough one but we can try. Help us help you. Whoever is first in your group to arrive, you must tell the camp counselors how many people are planning to camp with you. You will be assigned an area and you are responsible for contacting the rest of your group to tell them your camp spot. When your friends arrive they must tell the counselors where you told them you were camping to be directed to that spot. IF for some reason your spot was moved or you can't reach them, you may try and leave a message for them at the onsite camping Cyber Cafe, telling them where your spot is. This should work most of the time and we apologize for any glitches that may occur. AND you must make an effort to have everyone arrive before saturday night and understand you risk your spots being filled up by other campers arriving as the campgrounds get close to filling up.
Eventually, they took care of us...actually they were awesome, and the delay wasn't very long. It helped that I had a printout of everyone on the list and some other organizational stuff, so they took me a lot more seriously. But if you can somehow contact someone in advance, it will be a lot easier on you.
the quote about how one can camp together, with PMing your friends and having them find you, is from years ago, when there was only tent camping. In those days, you could reserve a chunk of land, and people could filter in and find you. This doesn't work with driving.
Wow. Go me. That makes sense
That sounds good to me. I am so excited now! The person I was supposed to be camping with ended up not having the money to go, so I was beginning to think I would have to camp all by my lonesome.
