It's a shame that MGMT sucks live. Perhaps that will change over time.

Pollstar says Metric and 311 are playing BFD.

I could see 311 being at a Kroq function again...

    Sat 06/06/09 "Live 105 BFD"

    311
    Metric

    Default Re: weenie roast

If it's May 16, these are current/past KROQ bands won't be there because they're already booked somewhere else:

    311
    Alice in Chains
    Avenged Sevenfold
    Blue October
    Depeche Mode
    Disturbed
    Fall Out Boy
    Hoobastank
    Jane's Addiction
    Keane
    Korn
    Nine Inch Nails
    No Doubt
    The Offspring
    Papa Roach
    Paramore
    Pennywise
    Pepper
    Puddle of Mudd
    Red Jumpsuit Apparatus
    The Shins
    Slipknot
    Taking Back Sunday
    Third Eye Blind
    The Used

Unlikely due to East Coast dates on May 15/17
    Anberlin
    Coldplay

So the available bands left that might be likely:
    Airborne Toxic Event
    Far
    Kings of Leon
    Rise Against
    Silversun Pickups

    Possible headliner(s) from these bands:
    Beastie Boys
    Blink-182
    Foo Fighters
    Green Day
    Incubus

If it's to be held on May 16, I think there's a good chance Weenie Roast could get canceled this year like LA/Inland Invasion last year since they don't have enough decent bands to book. We'll know this for sure if Kings of Leon adds a last-minute date like Stone Temple Pilots did last September.

Same, I thought they were fine.

I've grown to despise KROQ so much that I don't think I could bring myself to shell out $75 for the Weenie Roast no matter who's playing.

I'm sooooooo sick of them killing bands by overplaying them into the ground, the most recent casualty being Rise Against. They've literally played the last 4 KROQ shows in a row - WR-AAC-WR-AAC.
    10/01 - King Crimson - Orpheum
    10/10 - Thurston Moore/Sebadoh - Echoplex (?)
    10/11 - BADBADNOTGOOD - Echoplex (?)
    10/12 - IAMX - Complex
10/13 - Oren Ambarchi - Jewels Catch One

Green Day's album is dropping mid-May, so I would say they are a strong possibility. Incubus is re-emerging, so I would imagine they might be there as well.

Depends on how Incubus at the Bowl sells...

[rant] Why does the idea of kroq bother me so much?! Gah they're just so gross. I hate when I see their posters plastered all over a venue for a show. They do get some cool line ups but ugh, I wish they'd just cease to exist already. They were relevant and ground breaking at one point a LONG time ago. Aren't Keven and Bean like 80 by now? I can't believe this station lives yet indie 103.1 dies. [/rant]

Wikipedia says it'll be May 23rd but who knows how reliable that is. If it's May 16th they could get Green Day, Blink 182, and Stone Temple Pilots which would be more than enough to fill Verizon.

There is a woman here in the office next to mine. She is like...41 or so. I have always disliked KROQ. Now, I fucking despise kroq. She has the kroq license plate frame, the kroq stickers, the keychains, and yes, listens to kroq from early morning when she starts to the end of the day when she leaves. I've got my music and such going on, but I can still kind of hear her shit all day. Miserable. I don't understand the obsession. She calls Kevin and Bean more than I call my grandma. Our conversations on music usually go like this "hey matt I heard they announced the coachella line up on the kroq website today." "yeah" "i only know of like 3 bands, why are you spending so much money to go??" "die"

Sorry. Your rant inspired my rant. I swear if I hear that fucking winey ass voice from sex on fire within the next hour again I'm going to flip.

I completely understand the sentiment, but Rise Against were terrible long before they were overplayed.
