yes, he is a rock and roll dance party DJ, which is kind of a rare find at Coachella. Fun!

I love how anybody who is talented at something else thinks they can be a DJ. See lindsay lohan, shepard fairey, perry farrell, etc...

I can see the problem with Fairey selling merch with copyrighted/stolen images, but making variants and twisting images is not unheard of in street art, and I wouldn't call it plagiarism, because he's changing an image into another statement. It's fine on the streets, where it's free, just not in the stores.

i think your missing the grand scope of things here. or your in denial. you can not construct a flawed justification to excuse this fraud!

Fairey is a hack who seems to lack any actual talent. Any art student can scan images and embellish them with mediocre draftsmanship

yeah but will they succeed? Shephard is a smart individual. Andy Warhol opened the doors to this, i cant think of anybody else that did wat Andy started in the 70's. Shephard secceessfully did. hate all you want, art is art, weather u agree with it or not........

Read his book "Obey - Supply and Demand" and learn about how everything got started and the ideas behind the mans art. How far can this one image go? How many people can see this image? What sort of impact can this one image do to the town, city, state, country, world? It is quite brilliant.

    Excerpts from the book..
"Because Obey has no meaning the various reactions and interpretations of those who view it reflect their personality and the nature of their sensibilities"

Does that explanation satisfy you? I suppose it depends on your personality and sensibilities.

    also

If the idea of spreading the Obey image is to see how far the Obey image can spread, doesn't it make certain sense for it to show up on apparel that is sold in a chain store?

I just read this piece, and have concluded that the writer of it has completely missed the point to a quite absurd degree.

I cannot believe how stupid that piece is. Jesus Christ.

i agree 100% because many street artists and graffiti artists steal images and stencil, wheat paste or paint them on things with a little twist, but to sell it and make a profit without giving credit to or paying them for the image is just stupid. I come from graffiti and street art, i have been doing it all for years and have 0 respect for this guy as a so called "artist" neither does the rest of the graffiti world. FUCK SHEPARD FAIRY!
