I likewise prefer it to Plastic Ono Band, but I'd say it's my favorite post-Beatles record.

Well, I guess I have to pick this up today, now. This discussion seems to be blowing up two of my long-held assertions. 1) That All Things Must Pass is the best post-Beatles solo record, and 2) that Tusk is the great unheralded proto indie pop record.

All Things Must Pass is bloated, but the musicianship is retardedly good. The songs themselves are good enough, but he was backed by Delaney & Bonnie's band and those players really elevate the record in a way George could never do himself. It would be far & away my favorite post-Beatles record if he had been able to trim the fat. As such, it and Ram remain neck & neck.

EDIT: Tusk is a fucking weird masterpiece.

I can't listen to the non-Buckingham tracks on Tusk. Fucking schmaltzy.

This discussion inspired me to dust-off McCartney and it's a lot better than I remember it being. Currently on my third listen and I keep hearing new things layered into the mix.

Yeah, I did that not too long ago and was surprised by how good it really is. I mean, everything else is overshadowed by Maybe I'm Amazed, but that was going to happen on any album he included that song on.

If you're a Man Man or Tom Waits fan, prepare to be kind of shocked by Monkberry Moon Delight.

Plastic Ono Band is easily my favorite post-Beatles album. No contest. I love Ram and all, but I can't think of a better collection of emotionally raw songs post-Beatles or otherwise.

"Too Many People" was the highlight of seeing McCartney the first time. It's odd not having Ram in my collection.

Also, when my friends who like music (but aren't nerdy about it) ask me what I consider the greatest album ever to be, my answer is All Things Must Pass.

Well, can we all agree at least that it goes like this for best Post-Beatles, by Beatle:

Harrison - All Things Must Pass
    Lennon - Plastic Ono Band
    McCartney - Ram
    Ringo - ???

I'll take Band on the Run over Ram.

    And Ringo's best is Ringo.

I almost always listed to Imagine when I listen to Plastic Ono Band. Those two are on par for me.

Agreed on Band on the Run. Ram is great though.

Woof. You guys! Band on the Run isn't bad by any means, but it's not on par with Ram.

I dont even want to read it. Ive had really great listens to it and thats all I care about. Its just personal and emotional music, I dont see how reviews are valuable for much.

The ONLY personal downside I have is that the two bonus tracks from itunes (?) are seemingly an extended ambiant outro. But obviously not part of the album proper.

I don't think they've ever given Sigur Ros a "good" review.

9.4. And while they haven't raved about much of the rest of the band's discography, almost all of it has been favorably reviewed.

Also, I don't understand what's so objectionable about Cohen's Valtari review, or at least I don't understand what those of you who have posted here find objectionable about it.

Yeah, that described how I felt about the Sigur Ros album after first listen. Trudging instrumental beauty without much development. Around a 6 or 7.
