That may be true for some bands, but Maynard has always been a very vocal opponent of moshing, or any kind of aggressive behavior from the crowd. When I caught their set at Street Scene close to 20 people were hospitalized because and one kid almost died because people wouldn't settle the fuck down. Maynard stopped the show while they evacuated all of the injured people up by the rail and commented that "this is just rock and roll people, no one needs to die for rock and roll, except maybe Bill Hicks and Sam Kinison." They ended up cutting a song from their setlist due to the delay.

Also, my friends back home in Montana caught their show in Billings, MT, and I guess Maynard was pretty dismayed to see that people were moshing during Wings Pt I and II. He grumbled something about "nothing like a song about a guy's dead Mom to drink beer to and smash things." The next night they canceled their show in my hometown of Missoula, MT, supposedly because Maynard was sick, but more likely Maynard probably made it clear he had no interest in playing in more shows for dipshit, knucklehead crowds in Montana.

So while I agree with you that everyone has the right to "enjoy the show in their own way," I'd say the line has clearly been crossed if you find yourself invading other people's personal space, injuring them, or pissing off the lead singer to the point where they cut songs from the setlist and cancel shows.

Wasn't Missoula just in the news because some major historical buildings got blown up?

It was surreal, I was 5th row dead center! Only show that tour I heard The Patient and Right In Two!!

Obzen, the icing on the cake was that show was the same day the Suns knocked the Lakers out of the playoffs!

They played it in Vancouver too. Definately one of my favorite songs of the set.

I am excited to see them again...my last 2 tool shows have been disasters and I hope this makes up for it...whether I see them at mile high or APW...hopefully they get a 2 hour set minimum...

At Bonnaroo 07, Tool were given 2.5 hours. I believe they only played for an hour and half. So, even if Tool are gievn 2 hours to play, they probably won't take it up.
