Kings of Leon are a good band. And yes, they are whoring themselves this year. That certainly sucks.

I can tell you one thing...... they are 1000x better than the fucking Killers. Brandon Flowers can suck a huge dick.

    Fixed

I can't figure out this following. The Killers, a completely harmless pile of compost, have garnished a following that has caused their lead singer to think he is Glitter God. Is Brandon Flowers a particularly talented vocalist? Not really. Are the songs different from something that Steve Miller band meets The Cars/Gary Newman could produce? Probably not. What the fuck is it?

I gave up trying to figure out why some bands are popular a long time ago. See the Depeche Mode thread.

with THOSE headliners? the fuck does that mean? Pearl Jam is the top rock and roll band still making music, Beastie Boys are legends, DMB is huge and KOL are now proving themselves as American headlining material...If these rumors are true...ACL is my 1 festival for this year besides Street Scene...

I think the beastie boys are a lock for street scene since they are playing the hollywood bowl on sept 24th. I can't think of who the other headliner could be though.

Lou, Arlington, VA: If you could have any artist on the show — dead or alive — who would it be and why?

Terry Lickona: Dead OR alive?? LOL…nobody has ever quite put the question that way. In the non-living category, I’d have to say that HANK WILLIAMS (the original, not Jr.) would be right up there. Among the living, the obvious names missing from our 35-year history include Springsteen and Dylan…not for lack of trying…but I’ve never been able to break the ice. There are so many classic acts, too numerous to mention, but it was a thrill last year to have REM on our stage, and we’re looking forward to another breakthrough this year with Pearl Jam…but don’t tell anybody… ;-)

am i missing something or did he\she just say dylan... as if he wasnt there in 2007 and choked on miserable dick (i still got mad respect though, hes like 999 years old). either terry is a dipshit, or they are talking about the acl tv show, not the festival.

some tapings usually take place the same week as the festival, so if pearl jam is confirmed for the tv show, it's likely they could play both. see coldplay 05, arcade fire 07, gnarls barkley 08.

How exactly are they proving this? They might try to prove it but I haven't seen a successful headlining festival in America yet by this boring band.

Ah man.. I'm definitely in for ACL this year then. I was pretty much in already with Pearl Jam + Kings of Leon (yeah yeah, make fun of all you want), and now I get to see Sonic Youth again... that's a significant fraction of my favorite bands right there between those three.

Looks like my summer festival tour is all lined up now: Coachella, Bonnaroo, Pitchfork, Outside Lands, and Austin City Limits... and I'm spent.
