seeing as i saw him do a solo set here in tucson
like a week ago over at solar culture
it was pretty sweet

the band was super tight.
HR was... not that great... making shit up, forgetting words, just sounding not that impressed.
maybe he is different when he does solo shows.
i was disappointed, heartbroken, actually.

Listen, I know that it's a different HR than back in the day, or whatever. I will admit to struggling with this issue as a major Bad Brains fan for many years now. Fact is, the first time I saw 'em ten years or so ago, I was severlely distraught. However, after catching their show a year or so ago at HOB Aneheim, I was utterly blown away. HR is an enigmatic cat. I have no idea what's going on in his head, and his stage presence/approach to live shows is anything but predictable. Fact is-they rocked my socks off this last time. I will see them anywhere. I've given up on 'Chella this year. Holding out hope for Lolla. - Jane's, Lou Reed, Beastie's, Bad Brains? - Sold.

point taken... i am a major fan, as well.... probably one of my favourite bands of all time... i had never seen them, with the original line up, until then... i will probably give them another shot... i was just let down, you know?
