realistically... financially, isn't it smarter for coachella to not book anymore bands? they have no reason to after all now that it's sold out.

yeah sounds efficient enough.
and you dont think that sucks?
Friday is not sold out, still room for more artist (only 32 confirmed artist that day for Friday). And who are the healiners for the Sahara each day??
I think there will be more on Friday fo sho. Although not lacking in good bands, it is lacking in bands AND isn't sold out. Crossing my fingers.
there will probably be 4 or 5 more additions...still need 3 dance tent headliners. Modest Mouse will probably be added. Of Montreal the same. Im still holding out for Portishead on friday or saturday.

I think just for the fact that Goldenvoice, for Coachella anyways, is all about Artist Integrity. If they were in talks with other artists to play Coachella and contracts were thrown out to the artists, GV wouldn't just decide to say, "Ah, forget it we made our money" and not add anyone else who would be a good addition to an already great line up. Yes it's a business but I'd like to think that GV doesn't look at Coachella as a "let's make a shit load of money" festival
i hope there are more additions. if not...it's not like a few bands or two are going to make, or break the festival.
i still think there will be additions. rather i think they will reveal who they left off the original list, sooner than later.
fans have already proven themselves to GV, time for our portishead present.
They book big acts after sellouts as a way of saying thank you ie Beck in 04 and Kanye in 06
Underworld is the present. Portishead is the stocking stuffer.
My Stocking is HUMUNGOUS!!!!!!! Portishead can fit in there
DJ Peretz will be back this year as Dave Wang.
i know i bought my tickets based on the lineup as is. if more groups are added then great, i'll be a very happy camper.
Realistically, why wouldn't Paul Van Dyk be the tent headliner this year if Tiesto is on the Main Stage? Wouldn't he be the next in line since he is part of the ub3r l33t DJ's of the world list?
Whatca Say - Whatcha Say - Whatcha Say - Wha?
So $2 for a bottle of water that costs them what ?? 25c and you still think this isn't a money making exercise? Free enterprise is aok but please don't think this is anything other than a business.
re-read what I wrote shit for brains and realize what I am trying to say. "Yes it's a business but I'd like to think that GV doesn't look at Coachella as a "let's make a shit load of money" festival" I know it's a fucking business but I don't think in GV's eyes they put this festival on with the sole purpose of lets make a shit load of money. (redundant, I know) Yes, let's make a profit but that's not the main fucking point of putting on the festival. And if you could reach down into your skull of doucheyness and find me a gas station or walgreens that sells a bottle of water for 25 fucking cents please enlighten everyone. Have you ever been to a festival or concert before? Have you been to Coachella before? MarkO, after your parents drop you off in the parking lot and tell you to put on sunscreen and not do drugs, go to the front of the pit and get kicked in the head...it will probably help.

golf clap. well done. now take a deep breath.
This year marks my 16th year of going to shows; everything from small clubs to stadiums. Probably not quite up to the experience level you have but what can I do ?
2 dollar water isn't unreasonable.

They'll continue to add bands; they don't just want money, they want to make people happy.
I think the current lineup is fine but slightly unbalanced. Sat is the weak day.
Now that we know that Tiesto is closing out the mainstage I would think that if they did add someone to the Sahara it would be someone a bit unconventional for the Sahara like the Pet Shop Boys or something.
Try Bang in Miami where they charged everyone $5 for the same size bottle of water. Plus you had to wait in line to buy tickets for that water. Completely jerky thing to do, and left me with a bad taste in my mouth over that shit. I don't care if it was the venue or the promoters, it doesn't take a genius to know that was out and out obnoxious gouging.
tickets for water line then get the water line and you pay $5? man, that'd totally make me blow my stack
I don't have anything clever to say right now.
