Try Point Mugu. Borderline LA/Ventura County. Lots of pretty hikes; gorgeous coastline. Will be hot with no cover on the open fields/meadows/hillsides (unless you get fog). As with all summer hikes, bring lots of water.
And though I've never hiked there, I bet Malibu Canyon will be a good choice. From the pictures I've seen, it looks pretty sweet.

Looks like this what my friends and myself decided on hiking this weekend.I want to try the bungee jumping, but my friend told me it's $125.
Looks like a really fun hike. But I'll pass on the bungee jumping. No fear of heights, but a healthy fear of death, and a mistrust of the safety/maintenance of the gear. Kind of like jumping from a plane with a parachute you didn't pack yourself. (Not that I'd be jumping out of a plane, either.) Have fun and post pics if you go.
GB, that looks awesome. Take your friend who takes the good photos. I want to see!
Yes my friend who takes photos is coming on the hike. It's probably going be Sunday that we are going to do the trail. We need to get him a dry bag for all his camera gear because it's killing me that we have to stop and turn around because we would have to swim or get wet to get across points on these hikes(and we don't trust hiding the camera gear somewhere) .Any recommendation for this fellow boardies.

This is what I have, and it works very well. It fits most lenses in the 50mm to 200mm range.
Thank you Courtney! Hopefully he buy this or something similar soon.
Here's some photos that mine friend took hiking up to Cucamonga Peak a while back. The beginning of this trail is at 4900'( 1494 meters) and the round trip is 12 miles(7.44 Kilometers).
You can see the High Desert in the distance.
This is looking over Rancho Cucamonga. The peak is at 8859' or 2701 meters.

Well not that it really matter, but we didn't have any water by the time we reach the final saddle before a long series of switchbacks and life sucked from then til about 150 minutes later..I honestly didn't even enjoy the victory of reaching the top the peak that I've seen since I was five years old .This is because I knew I had to walk back down without water and I was already exhausted way before reaching the top.We found a hiker with enough water to let us have some til we got to a fresh spring water source which was about a mile after

nice, I had a similar water issue happen a few weeks ago luckily finding an 11th hour solution. You always seem to find a way to survive out there. Well, I guess there are some stories to the contrary.
Perseids meteor shower coming up two weekends from now, so planning some kind of camping/hiking trip locally. Damn full moon is going to hinder the show a bit. Should still be some action up there.

Damn. That Kokohead railway hike is freaking hard for me.
I'm pretty excited to start doing this.

GB and Roast, are you serious with the water issue? That's wilderness 101.
Cool pics. I've never seen Rancho Cooksamongus look so beautiful.![]()
Geocaching is really neat, I've found a few with a friend and they were in some really neat spots. One was actually in a piece of wood that was carved out and hinged to fit the geocache!

That looks gorgeous.
Anyone ever been to Rocky Peak Park near Chatsworth? It's a beautiful hike that gives you a great view of interesting, southwestern looking rocks and rock formations, and the San Fernando Valley.
This is basically the gist of it.
Wow, even though I posted in this thread a couple of times, I completely overlooked the previous pages. I'm reading through them, and I'm pinpointing which ones I want to do (in California of course).
As a matter of fact, I might do them all (or majority). But first, I want to do Runyon Canyon (yeah hate on me) and visit Griffith Park. Any other hikes/parks/etc. in town?
