    Default April 17th 1970

Fuckin throw rocks at me if you don't dig me posting a thread about this but whatever......

I went to go look for the last Paul convo and it was three pages back and had some 58 year old claiming Paul is a load and some guy wondering why he's titled "Lurker"

Plus ive been off the board for about a week and i could use the hostility from you all. Strangely enough i kinda missed it.

    OK to the point.........

All this time ive been wondering why Paul is playing friday and not sunday. Didnt make much sense, not like hes got any other gigs going on why not let him close out the weekend, let me take my cid and not have to worry about the after effects all weekend.......

Well, it was brought to my attention just this evening that 39 years ago exactly on April 17th, 1970 Sir Paul released his first EVER solo album in the U.K. titled "McCartney"

Im starting to think his performance is going to be something extremely special, not just the normal set, which im sure is spectatcular in itself. But honestly, I think this is more than a coincidence and im really stoked to see what comes of all this......

Yes, i really did just start a thread on this and yes im sure it might have been talked about.

But if infact this little bit of Rock History hasn't been brought up then lets hear it folks...

what do you all make of this??????

i would bet that he doesn't even know that its the 39th whatever. pretty insignificant compared to the rest of his career.

dont think it has anything to do with the day he's playing. logistics is hard enough to figure out with this many bands in 3 days, esp with headliners.

    Pretty insignificant!!!?????

I would say releasing his first solo album, 7 days after quiting THE BEATLES!!!!! is a pretty significant moment in Paul's life.

    Wow, that's really rad.
I mean, he might be touring so Friday fits, but even then it's still the 39th anniversary of his first solo effort.

So what button do I push to throw rocks? Just curious.

Because it is the anniversary, what do you think he's going to do, play that whole album or something? I bet that would actually turn off a lot of people unfamiliar with it. I'm expecting a "greatest hits" type deal, maybe a couple off each solo album and a few Beatles tunes. Maybe even have Ringo walk on stage at the beginning, sit down behind the drums for a minute, say "Whoops, wrong band..." into the mic and then get up and walk off.

Ah, 39th. The most important anniversary ever. I can see it now:
"You know, friends, exactly 39 years ago today, I released an album full of songs you are all hoping I don't play in lieu of Beatles material."

You know, April 17th is also the day Linda McCartney died. I'd imagine he'll be thinking more about that than the anniversary of one of his albums.

No one said he wouldn't be. I was just saying that he'll be more likely to be thinking about his wife of 30 years on the anniversary of her death rather than the release of one of many albums. I didn't say it would have any effect on his set or anything.

Paul McCartney is aggressively boring. This post represents the end of all future Paul McCartney discussion and speculation on this message board.

Paul's playing The Joint in Vegas on Sunday. Not sure which was booked first, I imagine Coachella - but if not, that would explain why he isn't closing the festival.

I love McCartney threads - so no flaming from me. :-)
