U2 DISCUSSION 2009 will they succeed or fail?

The new Rolling Stone confirms that the US tour is in stadiums. Sounds like they are going to use a stage in the center of the field so they can sell "as many cheap tickets as possible to the kids" or something to that effect

Same model as the last 5 tours.

GA tickets (close to the stage) will be around $40, seats will range in the $75-$150... nothing new other than the in the round part.

Well, I'm not traveling to see them so they'll have to come to Salt Lake and if they do I should have no problem securing $40 tickets. This isn't LA.

the u2 subscription is $50 bucks. gives you a pre-sale code for tickets. seems fair if you want to a good chance at getting tickets.

Yeah it's a good thing to have... esp if you plan on multiple shows.

Also they divide GA tickets into fanclub and non fanclub ones. Tickets bought with fanclub memberships are let into the GA floor areas, before everyone else.

right - still early but initial impressions are very good.

Cedars of Lebanon – sounds like the Joshua Tree outtakes, a-la Walk to the Water or Luminous Times. To me a good thing.
Unknown Caller - Very Daniel Lanois. A good thing indeed, love the shouting military-esque chorus.
Fez - I love how they revisit an earlier tune’s hook, make it super subtle, such a Eno touch makes me smile.
Breathe – a good heavier song without trying to hard the way Vertigo did..

I am lovin the album myself and I knew that passing up coachella this year would allow me to hit up more U2 shows so that's what I'm Planning to do. And if its a stadium show, i'll be sure to snab one of them GA tix. can't wait

I have been a huge fan for 27 years (that is a crazy thought in itself).
Achtung Baby & the Zoo TV tour was the pinnacle...but they will do just fine in 09.

No, it didn't. MOST of Popmart was in huge Stadiums - not arenas.

I saw that tour 3 times in 3 different cities it was all the same in those markets.
