how safe is your stuff?

hey, im heading over for the festival for the first time and wanted to know how safe are your personal things in your tent.(wallet,phones, passport, clothes ect.....) Over here we all camp next to our cars.... everythings unlocked and unmaned most of the time and nothing has ever gone missing. it's straight off the plane and to the festival thurs. for my mates and i so we'll have everything on us!
someone please help us out?

Pretty safe, you have to be real unlucky to get robbed. Obviously use common sense and leave very valuable things (passports etc) either locked in your car or about your person.

i NEVER locked my tent or stuff. nothing has been stolen. I always keep my wallet and valuables with me at all times.

Keep the valuable things in your car! (If you dont have one) Just keep your things on you, no? Better to be safe than sorry.

I think I brought a lock for my tent the first year I went. But then I realized that was probably pretty stupid.

I Did the same thing and then I realized there were like seven zippers on the tent besides the fact that someone could take a pair of scissors to it if they really wanted to steal stuff.

I keep my stuff locked in my car. If you don't want to leave it in your tent or on your person, find someone with a car and ask them to lock it up for you.

Keep valuables in your car -- you'll only need your passport for age verification at camping checkin and to get your alcohol bracelet... after that you should be able to put it back into your car.

I think locks on tents are pretty worthless... if people are going to steal, they'll just cut the tent.

Exactly, and I don't even have anything valuable in my tent. Just sweaty clothes, some soap and travel sized tooth paste and shit.

well, i think cutting into a tent draws attention, and unless they knew you had something valuable they wouldn't waste time when so many other tents are unlocked. I just think that people aren't really out to steal anything there.

I got a bunch of stuff stolen out of my car last year, but my dumb ass keeps a hide-a-key under my back bumper in one of those magnetic boxes.
I lost a really nice ($800) camera, a borrowed cell phone, an iPod nano and an iPod classic.
Big bummer.
Be careful about your car. Those thousands of cars sitting unattended all day are kind of sitting ducks.
It was really disorienting because I didn't notice all the stuff gone until a few days after I got home to LA.

you can buy a small locker on here and split it up with your friends and keep all your valuable stuff in there..its really handy and really safe..

Last year our group left stuff outside, under our shaded area, and nothing was ever stolen. We had beverages and stuff in coolers and sitting outside in carts but they were never messed with. I had a lock for my tent but realistically I didn't need it since everyone was pretty cool. It does help to have a campsite with a few people just to be safe.

it's exactly what you would expect: 98% respectful good natured people with an inherent sense of right/wrong, 2% sketchy jerks.. so it's always a gamble, albeit good stakes.

also, my verdict: rock the fanny pack... those advising against it are smelly, acne riddled pc enthusiasts
