The second day looks rad, I might even stay to watch some of Deftones and Slipknot

I'm gonna go if I don't have to attend a bachelors party. Good friend of mine is getting married the week after.

That is cheap, I was worried this was gonna be like 80 bucks. I hope Dillenger or some other smaller name does an after show

Yeah, the amphitheater has after parties at the venue for its other 2 fests this summer.
People are gonna freak out about the built in chairs there.

I doubt they would have an after party on the grounds for a 1 day fest. I have heard those chairs are removable, but it is still a huge concrete pad there

For those of you who have seen Sleep on this tour, did they play any new songs? Because they played a new one up here last night, and it was the shit. They better be planning a new album.

I made a non-metal list in the other thread, but these are the metal albums I have been digging this year. I'm curious as to what other metal albums people have enjoyed this year (mostly I just want to pull from your lists).

    1. Anhedonist - Netherwards
    2. Dodecahedron - Dodecahedron
    3. High on Fire - De Vermis Mysteriis
    4. Drudkh - Eternal Turn of the Wheel
    5. Arms of Ra - Unnamed
    6. Pallbearer - Sorrow and Extinction
    RAPE STOVE

    white power?!

I've listened to the Anhedonist, but i can't recall much about it. Need to relisten. And I didn't even realize a new High on Fire came out!

    What I've been digging:

Alcest - Les Voyages De L'Âme
    Bréag Naofa - Untitled
    Messhuggah - Koloss
    Pelican - Ataraxia/Taraxis
Black Breath - Sentenced To Life
    Torche - Harmonicrafft
    KEN Mode - Venerable
Wreck And Reference - No Youth

I second this. Not only one of the better metal albums this year, but one of my favorites of 2012, thus far.

I also enjoyed Ne Obliviscaris - Portal of I

I haven't been paying attention much this year Bosse De Nage, Alcest, High on Fire, Behold the Monolith, Horseback, Heavy Blanket, Worm Ouroboros, Royal Thunder, and Pallbearer come to mind initially. The new Dawnbringer, Saint Vitus, Circle of Ouroboros, Ides of Gemini, Devil's Blood, Inverloch and Wounded Kings records are fucking great. Inverloch definitely has the lead on best metal record this year.

I have also been listening to the Batillus/Whitehorse split a lot. I saw them put on an amazing show with Lungs and Svboda (two great local bands) in an oven of a basement last night. The singer from Batillus kept getting electrocuted and still put on one hell of a show, you guys should go see this band if you get the chance. These guys and The Wounded Kings are probably the best bands in the Doom scene right now.

edit: Secrets of the Moon also put out a damn fine record this year

I think Matt Pike entering rehab is very surprising, I figured he would die before doing that

I missed part of their set, but Torche were fucking awesome tonight. In fact, they were good enough that it was worth $21 for 20 minutes of them.

Anyone heard the new Ihsahn album yet? As much as I miss Emperor, this guy keeps churning out some brilliant solo stuff. I pretty much knew on my first listen that this would likely be in my top ten for the year.

I fucking love that Grim Kim Kelly is getting paid and a good reputation and all writing for Pitchfork, but it also makes the all the amazing releases she informs me about damn near impossible to find before selling out.

This doesn't exactly fit in here, but i'm not sure where else to put it. A friend just introduced me to this insanely awesome unsigned band called ARCTIC SLEEP. They sound a lot like a mixture of HUM and JESU and they are fucking gooooood!

You can stream and buy their 3 albums from their bandcamp page! I'm currently listening to Earth To Earth and i am absolutely beside myself right now.
    http://arcticsleep.bandcamp.com/

They're also working on a new record now and have a kickstarter for pre-orders: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/...-an-epic-album

Seriously, check these guys out. AWESOME.

Pelican is playing a free show tomorrow afternoon at the Glass House. Go to the Scion website, click Metal and RSVP. I'm hoping to make it.
