Earth are so damned awesome. Kind of stupid that I still haven't seen them, especially since I don't think I had a good reason for missing them at ATP NJ.

That was a really sleepy show. All new stuff. I nodded off and took a nap during their set.
It was a great nap, but I'm still glad they've started playing old stuff again

I dig them more, as there were other second-gen black metal acts that did the style better than Mayhem to begin with (Emperor, Burzum, Immortal and Darkthrone all put out albums that could easily eclipse Mysteriis.)
Actually I am of the opinion that the Deathcrush EP is the best thing Mayhem have done. Attila is the strongest of the Mayhem vocalists, no doubt, but that EP is a monster.

Live in Leipzig is a strong argument for Dead being the best vocalist to front Mayhem.

Can one of y'all help me out. I'm looking to buy a copy of Holy Mountain by Sleep on vinyl. I went on discogs and I've seen a ton of unofficial pressings. I'd rather have the official one but all the official ones seem to be from Earache and are either unavailable or $200 which is way out of my budget. Are the Kreation Records pressings official? I don't remember Sleep ever being signed to them but I could be wrong. Or should I just wait for Southern Lord to finally reissue it? Anything helps. Thanks guys.

"Reissue. Originally released by the label Earache Records. Issued under license from Earache Records Limited. Manufactured in the CZ for Pirates Press. 250 copies available in colored vinyl, only available through the label Kreation Records (blue/red two-tone bleed copies, available from the label, the second edition has green/white two-tone bleed, another edition of 250 pressed on green/purple two-tone bleed vinyl). "

That's from the main entry on the Kreation pressing. I almost bought a copy once and it seemed like it was well made: good thick cover, glossy and nice

I actually spoke to Sleep on their Facebook page and apparently Earache still owns all the rights to Holy Mountain, so I think it's probably unlikely we'll ever get a repressing from them. I think I'll just have to hunt one down on discogs sometime soon.

That is already a great line up, even without more adds coming. I'd like to see almost every band there.

Pallbearer released their first song from the new one today, and it's fucking massive. This is my most anticipated release of the year without a doubt. I still listen to Sorrow and Extinction frequently.

Looks like they completely ignored the south. I suppose they could always wrap back around and hit it by the end of October, but probably not.

I saw Eyehategod, Ringworm, Enabler, Holly Hunt, Shroudeater, Iron Man, Day of the Beast and a couple locals Saturday. The show made the national metal news blogs (Metalsucks, etc.) because the promoter "had an anxiety attack" and ran away without paying any of the bands. Bands have since been paid, apparently. Sets of the night for me were EHG (almost 2 hours), Shroud Eater and Ringworm. New EHG got a 8.0 on Pitchfork today and the songs did sound great. Here's a link to my writeup and pics if anyone is interested. http://www.hissinglawns.com/2014/06/...tos/#more-5634

I heard about that. That's really shitty. I heard that EHG knew he ran off without paying before they went on. That says a lot about those guys though that they'd still play two hours for their fans even though they weren't getting paid. I imagine it'd be hard to feel up to playing knowing you just got robbed.

EHG definitely knew the promoter had bailed, they made it very obvious that they were playing for the people that showed up and said "fuck that corrupt promoter" multiple times.

    Agalloch tonight.

Saw Deafheaven tonight. They have perfected their live show. That was easily one of the best shows I've seen this year. So much intensity from the band. Sold out show and the crowd was super into it. This last year of nonstop touring has obviously had a big effect on them because they're not even close to the same band I saw a year ago. They played all of Sunbather and a song off their last album. It was perfect. Can't recommend seeing them enough on this your if you get a chance.

Pallbearer was the opener and they were really good too. They played 2 songs off the new album and they were the highlights of their set. The songs are just so much tighter and better constructed than their last album, but they're just as heavy as ever. I'm even more excited for their new album now than I was before.

I guess I'll check out Deafheaven at Pitchfork, but I wasn't really a fan of Sunbather.
We're here to play some Mississippi Delta Blues. We're in a horrible depression, and I gotta admit - we're starting to like it.

Some death metal band is going to be performing in an airtight box until they run out of oxygen. This is happening at some art museum in the UK
