I am even more excited to go to the St. Louis show now.
We're here to play some Mississippi Delta Blues. We're in a horrible depression, and I gotta admit - we're starting to like it.

I finally figured out what is off about the new Mastodon record, it is like if My Morning Jacket made a metal album. After realizing this I like it a lot more, but wish MMJ would have just made this album. They should really do a split.

I revisited Bréag Naofa's Untitled yesterday, and man, it's so fucking good. It's a black metal record that's really quite the sweeping tour of metal genres, really using chunky post metal riffs as its homebase. It's 4 songs and 40 minutes long and it accomplishes a lot in that time. Highly recommended!

This leaked today. If the cover is any indication, I can only imagine how bad it will be.

Yeah the guest vocalists that they have picked so far (Abysmal Dawn’s Charles Elliott ad Obscura’s Steffen Kummerer) are pretty sick, it's all for charity too

Just read up on Sweet Relief Musicians Fund, "provides financial assistance to all types of career musicians who are struggling to make ends meet while facing illness, disability or age-related problems." It's really a fantastic idea, I'll be sure to catch this one.

just saw Ghost, Mastodon, and Opeth tonight. Great fucking show. all the bands sound excellent. highly recommended if they come near you. the sets from mastodon and opeth are really heavy on the new stuff, so if you don't care for the hunter or heritage, it might be best to skip this then.

Yeah it looks a little more radio friendly, and they have the corporate backing to afford the leaked lineup of Machine Head, Lamb of God, Suicide Silence and Anthrax. Cool that the US is finally starting to embrace metal festivals though, even if they are little weird ones like cruises.

Also, I envy any of you fuckers in FL that gets to go to this for FREE!!! I tried to get a flight down there for it, but couldn't find anything under 400 bucks.

Surprised there's been no discussion of the new Melvins EP, The Bulls & The Bees. I really like it. I'm not a super close follower of theirs so I'm not sure if these are all new jams and/or if they've been around for a while in their live set. But, they are good.

I'm thinking about that Sleep show as Jared mentioned that I should check them out. How would you guys describe their sound and which LP to start with? And, if there is cookie monster singing, just let me know up front because that's just not my thing.

Sleep is like the pinnacle of stoner metal, you should not miss that show. Most people would say start with Dopesmoker which Southern Lord just repressed, but I would say Holy Mountain is more accessible. They only have 2 albums and don't have growls at all so you should be fine with it.

Pretty sure Jerusalem and Dopesmoker are the same thing. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Sleep do rock though. Saw them at the Regency awhile back. They were killer.
