Thread: Today is the 16 year anniversary of Kurt Cobain's death

Default Today is the 16 year anniversary of Kurt Cobain's death

I would just like to babble about random coachella related stuff that doesn't quite fit in the above categories. Kurt Cobain was the front man for Nirvana. Dave Grohl was the drummer of Nirvana. Now he plays in some band called Them Counting Crows or something like that and they're subheadlining friday.

16 years ago, on April 5th 1994, Courtney Love shot her husband Kurt Cobain in the face with a shotgun and then made it look like a suicide. A moment of silence for Kurt Cobain.

I heard the song "Mr. Jones" by Them Counting Crows was dedicated to Kurt.

I was sad when he died. But then sometimes I think, if Nirvana kept playing into the 2000's, would they become bad ass like Radiohead or Tool, or would they suck ballsack like Metallica?

    It's hard to know.

That was a quick 16 years. You gotta wonder what Kurt would be doing now. I got obsessed for awhile with reviewing evidence surrounding his murder. Law enforcement dropped the ball on that one (or got paid off).

I didn't do anything really....I honestly never really do for this kind of stuff....I really don't see a need to celebrate his suicide/murder....but I did listen to some tracks off Bleach today and downloaded a new live show of theirs, so I guess I did do something.

I also have no plans of seeing Them Crooked Vultures (though seeing Dave Grohl in person once would be sorta cool), but I think I'll be avoiding the main stage Friday night.

There is a very strong resemblance between the two.

On a serious note, Smells Like Teen Spirit was one of the first rocks songs I liked (when I was like seven years old), as it pretty much got me into music; and I get the feeling that they would of sided with Radiohead instead of Metallica.

    I support this thread.

I don't think Courtney would have the guts to do it herself. My theory is she hired someone they were both an acquaintance with to do it for her. Person X goes over to hang out with Kurt. Person X gives him a large dose of heroin. Takes advantage of his incoherent state by lining up the shotgun, wiping fingerprints and placing "evidence" to look like a suicide.

I think space aliens came and did it because of the way Smells Like Teen Spirit was reverberating around the galaxy. I know this for a fact, my uncle used to work for NASA.

I think it was Tom dressed up as a space alien who did it.

What? He's old enough to have done it...

they were on a whole 'nother level. i mean, from nevermind to in utero, that was a substantial jump. i would've loved to see where they ended up. kurt was a madman live. i saw some show taped by mtv in europe during the in utero tour and he literally looked mad! it was great. i think they would've taken their time to release albums (like the aforementioned tool and radiohead) but they would've been great. it would've been nice to see how they dealt with the death of the music industry. woulda, coulda, shoulda...

Yeah I did, was an interesting read. I liked the part where she called Billy Corgan a douche.
If we're lucky something will happen. Some adversity will happen and something unexpected will happen and you'll get tired and you'll get hungry, you'll have trouble going to the bathroom, and you'll lose your car keys, and all these wonderful things will add up to some powerful experience that 10 years from now we'll say "We lived, we lived." - Wayne Coyne on Coachella
