Come on people. Not liking them is one thing but there was a poll on here that showed they are the band youd must like to see booted out out of like 15 bands...wtf...ever listen to blood, sugar, sex, magik?

Nobody is paying attention, I think you get the picture. And playing like 3 songs off that album in their set does not make them an amazing live band. Plus it was not so bad 4 years ago when they headlined and now its 2007 so things have changed..........

I don't think you fuckers understand what's going on here.

The majority of people don't want them booted because of what they think of their music.

It's because they are completely too accessible.

It's nothing special anymore. They're more likely to be playing a show near you than your local high school's garage band.

Coachella goers like the new and the fresh, not the gym sock with the holes in it.

It's kinda lame that The Chilli Peppers hated on for touring as much as they do. Last time I checked keeping your music a big secret isn't quite the name of the game. The whole point is to expose your music to as many people as possible. They sell out every venue they play apperently they're doing something right.

In all fairness, the most recent releases of other headliners like The Cure, Tool, Coldplay, Nine Inch Nails, Oasis, Beastie Boys were definitely not their best work, not by a long shot.

Bands tend to get big enough to headline only well after their glory days, anyway.

First off, no one said anything about mainstream. Most people on this board like the Beatles, what is that? And if we didn't care about each other's opinions, why would we be on this message board in the first place?

getting paid more and laid more doesn't make the music any better

KISS got paid and laid more than most people, but that's some of the shittiest music made ever.

I'm not Bono...nor did I claim to be...however I can tell you are a douchebag

yes i have, but they aren't touring off bssm they are touring off stadium arcadium which i dont care for. If they played bssm at coachella i'd totally see them, but they aren't.

    a. them getting money doesn't mean they are good
    b. them getting sex doesn't mean they are good

I like plenty of mainstream music, but RHCP isn't one of them, they used to be, but not anymore.

That, my friend, means mainstream. However, you obviously didn't catch it. No need to thank me for pointing it out. Easily digested by the masses, in my opinion, means that the majority of people like it. I was only pointing out that "the masses" obviously aren't overly concerned with "tyler durden's" perception of interesting music.

    1. Getting paid more and laid more definately makes the music better in that nobody gets paid more if nobody likes them and nobody gets laid more if they are in a band that nobody likes.

    2. KISS was all about the live performance which is obvious, and as for their music being "some of the shittiest ever made", that is only your opinion.

    3. Douchebags don't have arms meaning they don't have fingers which ultimately means they cannot use a keyboard to type posts giving some perspective to people who have nothing better to do than spend their day complaining about bands that appeal to more people than themself. I think shithead, bastard, or "fucker" are probably better names to call.

So by this logic...Nickelback is good? and Crazytown was good?

Would they sell albums if they weren't percieved as enjoyable? Point being: just because you don't enjoy a particular band or feel that they've lost their touch doesn't mean everyone agrees with you. If you wish to continue expressing yourself perhaps you should start with "in my opinion" rather than just state things as though they're fact.

Sidenote: I don't enjoy Nickelback and i most definately do not enjoy Crazytown but i accept the fact that some people do and i leave it at that.

being that the words good and interesting are subjective...i think that should be implied.

Forgive me for missing that implication. I feel so juvenile. Anyways, If my point hasn't been taken I'll just let it rest. I thought it was valid, perhaps not.

you know what my biggest problem with the chili peppers is now?
    that HEEEEY OHHHH song
it's so fucking overplayed, on 5 radio stations in my city.

not only that, jan 1st we finally got this "new alternative" station that plays like new pornos, arctic monkeys, silversun pickups, metric.... and as a canadian radio station they're required to play 35% canadian content... but they actually have a No Nickleback Guarantee.... annnyways... back to rhcp.. this new radio station plays all this stuff nobody in this city is going to hear anywhere else... but still ALL the requests are for chili peppers. they are on such high rotation, that i've come to resent them... they do play a few of their older songs, but you can't go more than an hour without hearing hey oh or dani california... some of their older BSSM stuff was good, but i heard this interview with flea and he was going on about how stadium arcadium is their best album ever and all the music they've made their entire careers has been leading up to this new album.. but its AWFUL. ugh.

that being said... some bands just rock out at huge venues, so who knows? i thought bright eyes in 2005 sucked on the desert stage... but when i saw them in a small 1000-ish person venue here i thought they were great... if rhcp really really thinks they've never been a better band and are really pumped up about giving a performance for up to 60k people, they might really nail the live show...

the chili peppers are a band that for me personally is hard to get into live. music is good to groove to but their sets are always uneven and the older they have gotten, the more the funk has been lost. just play the whole blood sugar sex magik album and ill be happy. sorry to the peppers fans but its the truth... ill be there for the beginning of the set but if its not impressive, ill be moving along...
