Yeah...Wild Animal Park is DOPE...especially if you get there right when they open. In the morning most of the animals are active. As the sun heats things up they usually retire to the shade and hide. So if ya wanna see the tigers & stuff up close, go early. Same with the Zoo.
You could head to San Diego and go to Old Town (where the city first started back in the 1800's) - cool old (for California) buildings and great Mexican food at Old Town Cafe (think that's the right name) - they make tortillas in the window fresh and have great carnitas.
The harbor is nice, old ships and navy ships you can tour, downtown is beautiful Petco park -check out a baseball game maybe - or bars and resturants in the gaslamp district. (a few tatoo parlors left as well). Or over the bridge to Coronado island and the Hotel Del and beach there.
In LA Venice beach and neighboring Santa Monica are the best (IMHO) - there's a hostel nearby www.lahostels.org you can book it online I think.
Have fun in SoCal if you choose to come here - it's great if you skip the touristy stuff.
if you are an active type there are some GREAT hikes in the coachella valley of ALL difficulty levels... i would recommend ladder canyon or painted canyon in the mecca hills (just a few miles drive from coachella)

We're going to Disneyland! And possibly Knott's Berry Farm.
