I know I am a little late to the party, but this new album is awesome. One of the better albums this year. Fairweather Friends and I Appear Missing are my favorites.

A listening suggestion for the drive to the show tonight. Olivier Libaux is a French artist who does all bossa nova style covers collaborating with different singers and his band Nouvelle Vague. His new one is Uncovered QOTSA.
This version of Burn the Witch is just about my new favorite thing in the world.

3rd show in last 3 months or so and I could still go for more. "Better Living..." needs to be a staple in the setlist, it was incredible to tonight!

Arrivederci, au revoir, adios, auf wiedersehen Universal Amphitheatre. Thanks for the memories!

    I agree, great show!

So the Gibson made a typo the opening guy was Mark Loughman, apparently he's from Mancester England and played with Elbow, Soda and the Happy Mondays. I had never heard of him.

The show was great. It was soooooooooo loud! Glad I brought earplugs. As Steve mentioned "Better Living" was amazing and I thought "I Appear Missing" was pretty awesome too.

They were fantastic when I saw them at Squamish Music Festival last weekend... but they skipped "I Appear Missing" and "Better Living Through Chemistry," two songs I was really looking forward to, the later of which being my favourite QOTSA song period. What burnt worse was they they ended their set 10 minutes early. Oh well... I hope they do a winter tour and make up for it then.

I kind of felt that this was show almost identical to the Wiltern show. Better living and Monsters in the parasol were my highlight.

Almost, I compared the setlists and the Wiltern was longer by two songs but there were a few swaps.

My buddy kept noting how loud it was. He enjoyed it though.

So is there ever going to be a Bay Area date? Maybe a show at the Greek? I feel like we are getting the shaft up here.

This really seemed like a summer festival run for the most part, book ended by a couple l.a. Shows. Surprised not much else has been added, seems like shows through the year should be announced by now.

Well maybe they are planning something big with a decent supporting act to get into bigger venues. I hope we get some new dates soon.

Josh Homme on Jay Z's Made In America Festival:
"He [Jay Z] has his security frisking the bands on the way in. I just told them, 'If you open up my bag, Iím not playing, so I guess itís up to you whether we are playing or not.' The idea they frisked all my guys, means youíre in some different place, no-one has ever done that [to me]... He also gave us some champagne and wanted us to take a photo with it. And I thought thatís not a gift that is a marketing tool. So I destroyed it. Because I thought it was rude overall. And you shouldnít frisk my guys, you should fuck off."

Maybe I'm a little late realising this, but I watched the Lollapalooza recording a few days ago and was delighted to see Jon Theodore behind the drum kit. I love that guy.

So I got to see QOTSA twice this last weekend. Just reconfirmed that they're my favorite live band. Their set at ACL and then their set in Dallas were completely different so I'm extremely grateful I did both. The ACL show was great because they just burst right out of the gate playing Feel Good Hit Of The Summer>You Think I Ain't Worth A Dollar, But I Feel Like A Millionaire>No One Knows. They also ended up playing a a 10+ minute version of Better Living Through The Chemistry that was probably the best thing I've ever heard from them. Overall they played a 75 minute set going over their 60 minute slot which worked out since the headliner at the opposite stage was 30 minutes late due to sound issues. The next night at show in Dallas let me finally hear the new album. They played everything except for Fairweather Friends and then cuts off all the other albums. Both shows were so great and I'm seriously considering finding a cheap pass for Weekend 2 of ACL to try and see them one more time. I love these guys so much and I really, really, really hope that they're at Coachella next year.
