I want to know the percentage of people that bought their ticket after putting down the 50 pound deposit. To me that article just says that 137,000 people put down a deposit. How many people followed through? "Most people"? What like half?

Bruce Springsteen to Headline Glastonbury Festival in Britain
By Dave Itzkoff
Chang W. Lee/The New York Times
Hey, remember Bruce Springsteen? He’ll be headlining one night of the Glastonbury festival in England.
He may have been snubbed by the Oscars, but Bruce Springsteen can nonetheless take comfort this summer in the arms of thousands of mud-caked British concertgoers: he has been named one of the headliners of the Glastonbury Festival, the event’s promoters announced on its Web page, www.glastonburyfestivals.co.uk. Mr. Springsteen, whose title track from the Darren Aronofsky film “The Wrestler” wasn’t even nominated in the Academy Awards’ best song category, will receive top billing at the festival on June 27; the full festival runs from June 24 through 28 in England’s Somerset County. Though Glastonbury has traditionally been a showcase for homegrown rock bands like Oasis, Coldplay and Radiohead, the festival has gradually expanded its boundaries; its Saturday night headliner in 2008 was Jay-Z. For stateside fans, Mr. Springsteen will also be appearing at the Bonnaroo festival, which runs from June 11 to 14 in Manchester, Tenn.
Yep, as far as I remember.

Blur to headline Glastonbury Festival
United Kingdom | 26 February 2009
Blur are set to headline this year's Glastonbury Festival, Michael Eavis has let slip.
The event's organiser accidentally revealed that the reformed Britpoppers will perform at the festival at last night's (25 February) NME Awards.
Blur frontman Damon Albarn and guitarist Graham Coxon performed 'This Is A Low' at the ceremony, prompting BBC 6Music to ask Eavis if they are playing at this year's festival.
He replied: "Can look forward to that, yeah. But it's not offcially announced yet. There's a bit more work to do on that yet. But you will not be disappointed, I can assure you."
Bruce Springsteen is also confirmed for the Somerset event, with Neil Young widely rumoured to be the third headliner.

Glastonbury Festival 2009 will take place at Worthy Farm, Pilton in Somerset from 24-28 June.
Tickets for the event have sold out but there will be a limited number of returned tickets on sale from 5 April, but those wishing to buy returns must register by 31 March.
white stripes know better than to play so far away from me
so one more american act, and one more british act to be announced...
When tickets go back on-sale in April, how fast will those sell out? I am considering hitting Europe instead of Japan since the Glastonbury lineup is shaping up to be better than Fuji Rock's. On one hand, I want to visit Japan the most, but on the other hand, Europe would be a lot cheaper ($550 roundtrip flight vs $1250 for Japan). Argh, indecision 2009.
Edit: that $550 airfare seems to have disappeared...

Lick an orange, it tastes like an orange. Lick a pineapple, it tastes like a pineapple. Go ahead, try it. Try some more. The strawberries taste like strawberries. The snozzberries taste like snozzberries! We are the music makers, and we are the dreamers of dreams. Come along, come along.
....so....is portishead touring in '09, then???
link?
I think they were thinking about it but I get the impression they aren't going to this year. Anyone know for sure?
And I just found a $570 airfare on expedia. LAX to LON departing June 13, returning July 1. The thing that makes it ridiculous is that ALL these sub-$600 airfares require a 12 hour layover in Philadelphia. WTF? 12 hours???

Yeah, apparently pacing around an airport for 12 hours powers a gigantic gas-generating machine.
And you'd think a direct flight from Philly would be even cheaper, but, nope. Much more.

boourns, u may want to wait on getting the airfare. most airlines haven't put their summer sales out yet. just stay on top of it, and you should be able to pull round trip for $7-$800 to one of the London airports. Either that or fly into a Euro city and just hop over on Raynair or something like that.
