    Default Surprises this year?

No, I'm actually NOT talking about additions to the lineup.
I'm wondering what you people think will be the surprisingly great acts this year. Who's going to blow minds and exceed expectations?

This year I think it will be:
    TV On The Radio
    The Black Keys
    Band of Horses
YYYs (if they can top their 06 performance)

And the ones I'm not so familiar with:
    Ghostland Observatory
    Bloody Beetroots

We all know acts like MBV will be massive.. Let's talk about who might be waaayyy better than even anticipated.

A lot depends on whether Ghostland gets a night time set. If so, prepare for laser mayhem

    Surprises: -Beirut's amazing sunset performance
-Ghostland at night in the tent
    -Fleet Foxes at sun set
-Public Enemy closing the outdoor stage

This is a lot of wishful thinking on my part. But with the right set times, all these bands will kill.

Ghostland is big potential, but it might get lost in that Friday lineup. Might be like Gogol in '07...only a small percentage saw them, but they still wound up being one of the most talked about.

Throbbing Gristle should be a huge topic of conversation afterward, but I bet a good chuck of it will be negative.

And also, even though all the hipsters here know what to expect from MBV, that doesn't mean that they won't be a surprise for the majority.

QFT! Man, I can't express how much I want this to happen. I would miss The Cure in a second for this. I might even hang to get right on the rail. Fuck, I want this one.

I'm ready for TVOTR to rival Mogwai's 06 performance late on the Outdoor Theater (hopefully conflict with the Killers).

Fleet Foxes, I'm expecting it to be beautiful.

I hope to be surprised by Sahara shows that I can get into and dance my ass off.

I'm interested to see what N.A.S.A. comes up with. I think that could be a legendary performance, especially if they bring out some stellar guest vocalists.

I bet that Public Enemy will actually be a great surprise for the people who see them out of curiosity. They don't sound like they've aged at all.

No way. They kicked ass at Neighborhood in 07. I heard they weren't so hot at Hard Halloween, but Neighborhood was seriously the shit.

Oh Gulnnie, they can't rival Mogwai.. But definitely Interpol or Raconteurs.
Mogwai was a TRUE surprise. TVOTR we expect to be great... the surprise lies in just how great.

I am guessing I will like TV On The Radio more than expected, and Paul McCartney.
    "It's in the K" - Martha Stewart

Since the show list is very minimal...
    August 29 // Chemical Brothers w/ Chromeo & Yacht @ Hollywood Bowl
September 26 // Vampire Weekend w/ Beach House & the Very Best @ Hollywood Bowl
October 5 // ARCADE FIRE @ Henry Miller Library
October 13 // Corin Tucker Band @ The El Rey
(someone should give me Sufjan Stevens tickets, aint got none of those)
