Every year I have defended Coachella, always able to find a handful of acts that weren't on the main stages and yet made the festival worthwhile. I have defended the festival for seven years, I proposed to my wife at the festival. I agree that it has been nice as less people come to the festival after the crowds of the Radiohead year, but can't help but wonder as we tell people not to come to the festival does that hurt the festival. As people stop attending the concert, they won't be able to attract the bands they once did. This year they clearly could not get three days of a solid lineup together, they should have gone with 2 or even maybe 1 day again to keep the festival's reputation solid. Instead they went with three days that will have less people at them. Three days might make them more money then two, but they will continue to have trouble attracting the bands they once did as the festivals reputation lingers on until it dies.
