can anyone share some insight on how thoroughly/intensely I.D.s are checked to go into the camping area? i'll be a few days shy of 18 when the festival begins and am the only one underage in my group of friends...

take one of your friends IDs that looks kinda similar to you and you'll be fine.

All depends on the security guard - have a back up plan because there is absolutely no assurance this will work.

ive camped twice and i THINK i got carded once
but you can just walk in, really almost no one checks
specially if it doesnt sell out, everyone will be relaxed

The security guards do not check your ID, the Camping Volunteers (who give you a wristband) check your ID.

thats what i mean.. the volunteers who give you a wristband. is it pretty easy to get fakes by them?

my bdays in august and i have an actual california id
im afaid to purchase a fake and i dont know anyone
who looks like and i dont want to take the risk of going to jail for using someone elses id
so any advice???

not very well at all from past experiences

if you LOOK under 18 chances are they will ask you for it. its not hard to borrow a friends i.d. just ask. they would not take it from you or anything. and even if they do deny you entry just find someone in line and ask them if they could help you by handing you their i.d. after they get in. you will be fine, iam 22 and have not even brought my i.d. with me all the times i have gone and have never been asked.

they didnt ask me for my I.D at the enterance for the camp ground last year .. only to go into the beer gardens they checked

Well, it was really stupid of you to buy camping passes in the first place. I guess at this point all you can do is give it a try. Also, if you do get caught using a fake ID you won't go to jail, you just won't be allowed to get in and the card will most likely be confiscated.

im using my buddys id and he look exactly like me.
but, the id is his permit (he doesn't have a drivers liscence yet) so it is a piece of paper. not a card. do u think that will be a problem?

You'll prob have to wait until next year to camp when your of age....unless you can get a fake id bcz your friends paper id will prob not work

On a similar note. In 07 I used a bald canadian guy's passport to get my alcohol wristband.. I'm not bald, and I am not even remotely canadian.
