No we can't. Stop starting useless threads. Google U2 + Livenation.
that's quite a high profile wish for an addition
'99-'11...
Ask them to headline Sasquatch. Or ask Live Nation to uncancel Pemberton.

Fuck U2.
U2 is quite high profile but they will be touring in 2009/2010. Why not show up for 2 hours on Saturday? I mean, D Mode did the last time they were touring (Before Las Vegas I believe..)
The addition of Sir Paul is amazing! I woulda thought he play on Sunday for some reason, not Friday to kick-off the fest. I still think The Killers are too small of a band to headline on a Saturday night. I don't see many followers from them. People will leave early...
U2...yeah...
They like Leonard Cohen...could be a big surprise...and don't forget Madonna started out first at Coachella way before her tour started that year...
If U2 do get a late add though, I'm just glad I got my pass...the U2 fans will scream to get in the place!
poop on u2
Live Nation HAS the rights to U2 digital merchandise, touring, etce etcetce...
alright, so much for that idea.
But what about Madonna? She has a similar Live Nation contract BUT she was here wasn't she ???
"It's in the K" - Martha Stewart
Since the show list is very minimal...
August 29 // Chemical Brothers w/ Chromeo & Yacht @ Hollywood Bowl
September 26 // Vampire Weekend w/ Beach House & the Very Best @ Hollywood Bowl
October 5 // ARCADE FIRE @ Henry Miller Library
October 13 // Corin Tucker Band @ The El Rey
(someone should give me Sufjan Stevens tickets, aint got none of those)
Fuck U2.
Nothing personal but dude, "deeznutz" go read a book and chill...
Bruce "the Boss" might be the late addition on Saturday. My guess...
Live Nation has the contract with their artists for Live Nation venues only...
People did a shop around for all the Live Nation venues in the biggest cities for a U2 tour, and came up with the lamest, smallest halls in the world...you really think U2 will play in those places when they can play at a TM venue that holds 18,000 people?
The contracts are only for Live Nation venues...U2 could sure show up at Coachella...
But they won't...
U2 really aren't a festival act. Their stage set up is way too complicated to be able to replicate in the 45 min. gap between artists.
Thank GOD.
The addition will be: Chemical Brothers, armin van buren, neil young, primal scream, basement jaxx.....and a big name for sunday (NIN or U2)...
i wish they would add them also, i love there b sides, pop, and zooropa,,,,,,,,,,,,, u2 would bring a shit load of more people
First off to U2diehard's question about Madonna... The Live Nation deal was done long after her Coachella appearance.
As for all these venues in big cities. Most of them are arenas or stadiums. Neither of which tend to give exclusive rights to any tour promoting company.
There's no way Live Nation would give U2 such a long contract and be willing to take a $19-million hit on their stock buy-back without putting a clause in the contract barring U2 from a rival promoter's venue/event.
Realistically the closest chance of U2 ever performing a festival right now would be Sasquatch in May. The Gorge is a Live Nation venue... but that won't happen either.

The Killers are so not worth a headlining position. I picture a bunch of 14 year old kids in their Hot Topic uniforms and parents in tow. C'mon Paul!
