Thread: Franz Ferdinand In the Sahara?

  1. #1

Default Franz Ferdinand In the Sahara?

With the sir paul, morrissey, and leonard cohen likely to dominate the mainstage on friday night i could see franz ferdinand in the tent in between ghostland and crystal method, especially with their danch-ish new album. i think that would be a blast, any thoughts?

My guess is headlining the outdoor theater. They opened for DM in 2006 so they probably won't have the same slot; I can see them closing the outdoor.

Well please let them hit the stage after Paul McCartney finishes! Id hate this as a conflict.

yeah that conflict would kill, i'd rather see them conflict with morrissey, but not cohen or mccartney

Don't see them in the Sahara that would be kind of lame.

they wouldn't play the sahara. not their scene and honestly... too small.
    def outdoor stage.

There is no way, no way at all, that they'll be on the outdoor stage. That's idiocy.

Unless they get moved, they're either before or after Morrissey. Cohen, though, could play Outdoor before McCartney (conflict with Franz).

This whole "headlining the Outdoor stage" idea is BS. There's no such thing as headlining that stage, it's just whoever happens to be last that night, and that act could come from anywhere on the lineup. There's a Sahara and Mainstage headliner, and other than that, it's simply whoever they put last on the other stages.

i think they are one of the last acts on that poster that would play the Sahara (or any of the tents really...)

either Outdoor closer, or main before Morrissey/McCartney...

First of all, they'll probably have it quiet for Paul McCartney; which means whoever goes on the outdoor stage will conflict with morrissey and be done by McCartney time. FF won't be bumped to the sunset slot when they were at the opening slot three years ago. All that's left is the outdoor theater.

Second of all, go fuck yourself.

Their new album lends itself to the Sahara, I think. It's very dance-y.

You really think they'd be bumped down a STAGE before they'd be bumped down a TIMESLOT? You are indeed crazy.

Why can't it go Cohen > Franz > Morrissey > McCartney on the main stage? Cohen with Willie Nelson's spot from 07.

They will probably close outdoor or late nite on main stage. Conor closed Outdoor in 2005. He is definetely playing main stage this year.

    silly theory.
    mark my words:
    Not Sahara, not mainstage,
99.9% positive we'll see em at the outdoor stage, if not in the mojave for sure.
