Hey Tim. What do you think?
Hey Tim. What do you think?
Hey Hannah. I am very happy with the line-up. I have wanted to see The Cure for a long time now, and I was hoping that they'd be on the line-up. Paul McCartney is a very big inspiration and influence to me, as a musician, so I'm happy to be able to see him. Thievery Corporation is another band that I've been trying to hunt down.
I was REALLY hoping that Doves, Super Furry Animals, The Bees, and/or Massive Attack would be on the line-up; so I'm a little bummed about that, but not that much.
I have a lot of research to do though. I know a good amount of Friday, but not a lot of the other two days.
What do you think?
I'm very pleased. That list is full of things I already love, and pretty stacked with things I have been meaning to pay more attention to. I don't see a way that I'm not going to die of conflicts. Or at least contract a nasty infection of conflicts.
It's not actually something I have a lot of experience with. I don't dislike britpop, but I haven't ever really gotten into any of it. I mean, who has the time. I have eighteen kids, and neglecting them keeps me pretty busy.
I just watched Cocaine Diaries: Alex James in Colombia right now on BBC America. You guys should check it out. It's pretty interesting to see Britpop stars out there on the front-line doing anthropology.

SUPER FURRY ANIMALS ANNOUNCE NEW ALBUM
Digital release 16th March on the band's own website -
www.superfurry.com, physical release 13th April on Rough Trade Records,
21st April for U.S. release.
"It's recognisable as a melodic SFA record, but is very focused
musically as a cohesive album. And no country rock as Daf has
developed a pedal steel phobia. Which has confined the great
Nashvillian instrument along with the Saxophone to the banned
instrument directive of the SFA board.

WOW. Talk about coming out from the dead.
Two things:
1. 24 hour people has been playing in my head for the past 26 hours.
2. I hope any brit act coming over has taken steps to ensure their passport is valid and that they have plenty of time to avoid being held up by any type of natural disaster.
Whiskey Sour
2 oz blended whiskey
Juice of 1/2 lemon

sometimes I miss britpop.
the rest of the time I realize it was never nearly as good as I thought it was at the time.
reminds me, I am still forgetting to go to Leisure here in SF...
haha. I liked that song.
Mark Gardner from RIDE will be headlining The 5th Annual Clean Air Clean Stars festival up in Pioneertown Ca. (Pappy & Harriets) this year 9/23-9/24 The performance will include classic RIDE songs as well as a special guest ensemble and material spanning Mark's solo career. I've been going to this little fest the past few years and its a blast! Plus this is probably closest we get for a Ride reunion for a while.

Yes, of course, their early shoegaze stuff is still on rotation. Twas at the final Glasshouse show where the band asked aloud why nobody was dancing. Think everyone was high or something cus it was a good show, the music sounded great, but no one moved. It happens.
Check out Emma's post-Lush project if you haven't already. Really poppy and fun with some dark edges. Works well with open landscape driving...like in California deserts. It probably works walking around Paris too though. Fuck, it just works, okay.

Liam Gallagher sues Noel Gallagher for libel
The Gallagher brothers couldn’t agree while Oasis existed, so of course they can’t agree about the band’s spilt. Or, more specifically, how the band split, which took place back stage at Paris’ Rock en Seine festival in 2009. As Rolling Stone reports, Liam Gallagher is suing Noel over comments he made in the aftermath of the band’s breakup.
“I have taken legal action against Noel Gallagher for statements he made during the Electric Cinema press conference on July 6th during which he claimed Oasis pulled out of the 2009 V Festival Chelmsford gig because I had a hangover,” Liam said in a statement. “That is a lie and I want Oasis fans, and others who were at V, to know the truth.”
“Noel also falsely stated that the demise of Oasis followed a massive row in which he claimed I demanded to advertise my clothing range Pretty Green in the Oasis tour program. The truth is there was no such discussion or row between us. There are many reasons why Oasis split. But it had nothing to do with my clothing range.”
Liam added that the lawsuit is not about money. Rather, he’d like an apology. “I am used to being called all sort of things by Noel and I have in the past said things about him, but what Noel has alleged this time went way beyond rock-and-roll banter and questioned my professionalism.”
Sounds like the beginning of a great film script. We’ll keep you updated.
