Oh my god, he's my hero. Was he really just trying to piss them off?
The kid at the end is the best part.
I fucking love his first album, but it's because it's so ridiculously overproduced. The first time I had ever heard of him was on NPR, with some typical music snob critic trying to explain to someone how genius the production was. I don't think I would see the point in seeing him live, because you lose that studio sound, but I would want to watch a train wreck like this.
I want to hear Josh's take on this video...he's said something before about "the real Andrew WK" vs his stage persona. I'd like to know if Josh thinks he was really trying to perform, or just fucking with them.
EDIT- There are a bunch of other vids...it went on a lot longer than that, and he was definitely fucking with them. But I can't tell whether he came out intending to piss them off, or if he started getting pelted and decided to take revenge.

unfortunately i think no. his whole thing is that he wants to be friends with EVERYONE and bring people together in the name of party. i've seen him do about 1.5 talks in person and while he doesnt touch on the "Gathering" situation specifically, he makes it pretty clear that he just wants to party with EVERYONE. if there is an element of troll he's not admitting to it. anyway its no big shock that the Juggalos were too herp derp to get it
too far. dead ponies are the best ponies

His solo shows don't tend to go over well at music festivals, where as they are a lot of fun in small venues.
His full band shows, however, are absolutely fantastic and a completely joyous celebration of life. Right now he is touring with the his full band performing I Get Wet in its entirety, so bringing him to Coachella next year would be perfect.
I saw him with the Calder Quartet to an audience of about 100. It was too good. He was going all out on the piano while a bunch of guys in tuxs played strings. fantastic

"The only positive thing that went in his favour was that he started a few fight circles – letting some punters let off some steam."
fight circles? thats adorable!
this sums it up nicely. his solo shows are more like performance art and depending on his mood they can get reeaaally strange. last time i saw him solo he went all john cage and spent the last 15 mins just sitting at the piano not moving, then slowly started contorting his face/body for about 5 mins and finally just said "goodnight" and it was over. also seen him once will the full band and it was just big dumb stupid awesome party time.
i dont think GV would add him for some reason, but if they did and he brought the band he'd be perfect for a friday afternoon to get the weekend going
