Coldstart, I looked at a ton of your photos at work today. They're really great. Could you tell me about the digital lomo style? Do they sell a lens that fits a regular DSLR, or is it an effect that you add later?

Here's some photos I took while in Photography class, taken with a Minolta SLR and I developed these prints my self, and then scanned them of course...

and I agree with the thirds rule, and also play around with appature (f-stops), and shutter speed...

While it is possible to hack together a lens that will fit a DSLR, there are none that are official and they would lack a lot of the "feel" of a Lomo/Holga/whatever camera. I do all mine using "The GIMP" which is basically a free version of photoshop. Using curve, contrast and saturation adjustments, you can acheive this digital "cross-processed" effect. Also tweaking the lens distortion for a "wide angle" effect and adding a vignette will add more life to your photos.

If you use the gimp, I can give you some more specifics on things and perhaps send you some plugins/color curve presets to use or modify to suit your style.

It sounds like something that would require more than just the tools to accomplish. I'll get the gimp set up, send you a PM and start reading more. Thanks.

PC, those are great shots!! It doesn't matter if you capture a 'yeti' if it is blurry, or simply with a wrong angle... there are a lot more important considerations in order to capture a good image. Ones have the talent, but photography is something that can be learn with effort and dedication as well, so... keep it up! Congratz

there's a huge difference between photography and photo illustration.

There is a huge difference between knowing how to use a digital darkroom for .raw photos, and just trashing on it because your photography knowledge is non-existent.

I'm sure your one of those people who "name drop" a computer program and pretend to have a handle on it when your with your peers.
