My favorite 1948 campaign story which I read about in the David McCullough book was where Dewey's campaign train was in Ohio, which he carried in 1944 and there were people there to see him. He wouldn't even open the blinds. He lost the state to Truman.

Pretty much. If you don't take into account the dip in labor participation, the "real" unemployment rate is around 11.7%.

Unemployment rates are calculated by people recieving unemployment benefits. Those run out after X ammount of time. Once that happens, those people aren't counted anymore. They have no way of keeping track of them.

I just wish Obama would stop trying to be a 'centrist' is every single fuckin issue and represent the people who really elected him which does NOT include bible-thumping, racist white guys with raised trucks and confederate flags or corporate phat cats. I wish he took an unambiguous stance towards gay rights, winding down the war, reining in our Military-Prison-Industrial Complex, and stopping being the world's policeman.
I don't think that's too much to ask of him.

But given the alternative, I can't imagine not voting for him. I just wish there were other parties that truly represented this vast untapped electorate.

I think I see a portion of a collar just above the butt of the gun, so it's probably a golf style shirt, which makes tucking it in slightly more acceptable, though still not my first choice.
