He'll be there.
Guisados is making my favorite tacos in LA. The cooks come up with some really creative fillings, and they do all levels of spice, from delicious and mild (this is the only place where I will get a quesadilla every time) to insanely spicy (they have a taco filled with the six spiciest peppers they could find, sauteed in habanero salsa and garlic. Don't get it.) They're worth going to Boyle Heights for.
Not sure exactly what your looking for Courtney, but here you go.
West Hollywood/Beverly Hills area...
High end great food - Bouchon, Scarpetta, Red Medicine, and Providence.
Modestly priced great food - Joan's on Third, Jar, Animal, Son of a Gun, AOC, Fig & Olive, Playa, and Cooks County.
The Fat Dog on Fairfax has amazing brunch and really good bloody mary's. And The Surly Goat right up the street is an amazing craft beer watering hole (also with full bar)

I love the Surly Goat. Golden State on Fairfax supposedly has the best burger in LA, but I haven't been yet. My roommate raves about it.
Were Ricky's Fish Tacos around when you were? If not, go.
Someone call me?
6/21 - Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti - First Unitarian Church
6/22 - Father John Misty/White Fence - Glass House (?)
6/26 - Tricky - El Rey (?)
6/29 - Twin Shadow - Fonda (?)
7/06 - Lee Burridge, et al. - Dilettante

The Golden State lamb burger is the best burger on Earth. They only have about 30 of them and only on Thursdays.

I wanted to go to a Gotye at the El Rey tonight but apparently it's sold out and craiglist tickets are $160. Booooo LA scalpers.
I am opting for a good olf fashioned korean spa scrub down with an old school friend, I think.
Went to the Getty earlier today and the Pacific Standard Time show is quite interesting and very worth a trip if you enjoy modernism and anti-canonical theory.
Miss. Courtney,
Do you like the Jayhawks? If so, I have an extra ticket. Free of course.

Under the Big Black Sun at MOCA is my favorite PST exhibit. Really enjoyed Five Car Stud, but you missed it by a few weeks, Courtney!
Five Car Stud was pretty traumatic. I'm really glad I got to walk around in that. heather has a membership so we go fairly often. LACMA has endless treats.

Yeah, the ONE THING I got to keep out of the breakup was the joint LACMA membership...so that's nice.
This is going on right now. I've been wanting to go. http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/cult...-at-lacma.html

If there's Coachella to be had, I'm gonna have it
I refuse to believe that. How could that be so?
DAMMIT BUDDY. I just saw this. You should have called me! I always think of you living somewhere in the middle of California that is not Los Angeles. I did not even know you were in town. Heart broken.
Yes, I love LACMA. The PST stuff is great, and that women surrealists show that hippityhip linked above is also quite good (although not really my thing). One of the last projects I worked on before leaving the Getty was actually the framework for the Pacific Standard Time grants to institutions that helped facilitate all the PST shows around the city, so it's tremendously gratifying to be able to see the project come to fruition. You should all go!
I'm looking for someone around the SoCal area who is into video production as a hobby/career -- someone who knows someone perhaps?
A friend of mine who has recently started a creative design projects company that makes/sells crafty accessories and shirts is looking to make an 8-10 minute video for their Kickstarter -- they're really honest, mellow people and of course are willing to compensate if the quality is respectable. There is also a charitable cause behind their business -- for each shirt sold, a shirt is given to a child in need. Any help, referral is much appreciated -- thanks.
Also, here is the company site.
PM me obzen
Sounds like an easy one shot tripod shoot
Right on.
Obzen I also have a hook up for filming and editing, but we're in the OC. Let me know if you still need help though.
Have any of you heard any reviews on American Idiot yet? Is it worth the $75+ cost and would it be appropriate for a 6 year old?
Thanks, Gunz.
I am about to book a hotel for April 16 - 18. I am looking at The Wilshire. It's on 3515 Wilshire Blvd. Is this is a good central location for staying in downtown LA and being close to shopping and restaurants? I will have a car. I am sure I missed the boat on getting tix for all those concerts that are happening those days, but the only one I'd care to attend is Wild Beasts at the Echo on wed. night. How close am I to the echo from here (too lazy to google map it on my phone).
