Where I live will be based on where I find work, if I do find work. I would find an area I like based on commute, access to freeways and what I can afford. Thats what I did when I moved from Oregon to Arizona and it worked out pretty well.

It's called Clairemont. NOT Clairemont Mesa. (Please note the letter "i".) Once upon a time, long long ago, before beach traffic was bad, you could get to the foot of Grand in PB, or to La Jolla Shores, in 10 minutes. Those days are over. 15 if you're really lucky. 20+ is more likely. Parts of Clairemont are nice, parts are super ghetto, and there's absolutely nothing to do. Any place fun must be driven to. The only advantage of living there is that it is truly central and you can get most anywhere in town in 15-20 minutes.

How do I know? Because I live here.

Yeah, it being central was why I liked it. I really just hope to find out if my resume holds up in the market out there and then go from there. I just kind of want a change. 110 degrees in early June is making me hate the desert. I really am not that picky about neighborhoods, I just love the beach and have come to a crossroads. I can either stay here and find a cheap condo so I can afford to travel, or see what California has to offer.

I do like that I can get most anywhere relatively quickly. We live on the edge of the mesa, and we have a nice view of Mission Bay and the ocean. There are some great neighborhoods here on canyons that are quite nice. And then some neighborhoods... well, tweeker central.

Mostly, it's a land of strip malls and chain stores. We often bemoan the fact that there are no fun, interesting, non-chain eateries anywhere around here. There is a venerable old school pool hall/grill called The Hungry Stick on Clmt Mesa Blvd, though, that might be to your liking. And the NiteOwl is just down the hill from here.

If I had all the money in the world I would live in one of those little houses within walking distance of the beach. I am ready to embrace my inner hippy.

We would all live in a little house by the beach if we could. We did, for 10 years, until our landlady died. I would move back in a heartbeat, if I could. The house was sold for $997,000. 800 sq ft, built in 1913, never upgraded. Welcome to California.

I did leave out the i, my bad, but Clairemont Mesa is a thing. I lived a stone's throw from.

But I think we can all agree that the Nite Owl is tops.

Clairemont Mesa is a thing. But the town/community is called Clairemont, not Clairemont Mesa. Not ever. I grew up here. I live here again (sometimes to my dismay). Call it Squaremont if you like, but you never call it Clairemont Mesa. That the city planning department calls it that is irrelevant, because the city planning department is retarded.

I got to sleep in today, my boyfriend drove me to work and bought donuts for the whole office, and then I found $20 in my pocket. And it's a beautiful day in the typically foggiest part of San Francisco!

Wooo weeeee! Color me stoked. My family felt bad about me having to do finals while they were all in town for a pseudo family reunion thing for my nephew. I was dirt poor due to the seasonal lull at work, and stressed to the max. They basically saw me at my worst.

This week however, everything is coming up roses. THey all left me a ton of food so my fridge is stocked, work picked up and my student loan money came in... so I restocked my booze cabinet, and I can start answering the phone now that debt collectors are off my back. AND I just heard back and I'll be working the Twilight Concert Series here in Salt Lake!!! I cleaned my house, I finally brushed my hair for the first time in like three weeks, and I washed my super filthy still dusty from Coachella car. Clean! Organized! Not starving! Fun things to do!

Guess who's mixing up the tunes at her first BBQ of the summer tonight? This girl!

I tried to find the 'I'm drunk' thread, but I'm too impatient /drunk to look for it. But I'm super happy. I'm in a tub.

    image.jpg

After another lake adventure, more sore muscles. More booze. hucklberry vodka, house lemonade, fire by the lake. Calls for Epsom salt bath and good music. Thank goodness my fave radio station is on point. I really hate walking across the hall all naked and sudsy just to change a song.

Tomorrow I hope to convince a crew to go to the Tetons for a couple days with me. I shot at this summer like a bat outta hell. Doin IT! Yeah summer!

    Whiskey Sour

    2 oz blended whiskey
    Juice of 1/2 lemon
    1/2 tsp powdered sugar
    1 cherry
    1/2 slice lemon

Shake blended whiskey, juice of lemon, and powdered sugar with ice and strain into a whiskey sour glass. Decorate with the half-slice of lemon, top with the cherry, and serve.
