i'm picking up my "baby" brother from the airport today, he'll be spending his spring break with me! he learned this morning that he got into his school's highly selective film production concentration, so we'll be celebrating the good news w/ drinks this afternoon. also, new Walkmen tunes surfaced this week and i've been gorging on 'em non-stop. today will be a great day.

My mom is coming to visit for the weekend and I'm so excited because I haven't seen her since Thanksgiving. She's bringing me furniture and her awesome horticulture skills to help me right the wrongs of my HOA's shrub killing landscapers. I'm very much looking forward to my house not resembling a hillbilly haven!

Ooohhh, bare earth to plant in! Wonderful. Post your results in the garden thread when you are done.

Well, bare earth except for the 7 stumps that are begging for destruction. It should look good in about a month and I'll definitely post pictures when it's in less of a white-trash state.

I got a job right now, I'm the 3rd man down from who we work with. The fabricator, the office that got the job, and me, the contracted worker.

I just got an email from the office stating that the fabricator is happy to hear I'm doing the work, because he likes my drawings and what I produce. this rarely happens in my field. I'm over the moon right now.

    Congrats Marooko!

One final down and something I've been working on since I was 13 might result in a career for me. I'd speak of it publicly but risk a jinx. Perhaps in tinychat. I am celebrating alone at the movie theater that serves beer. Guinness and Iron Man 2 for a pleasant afternoon.

To clarify, if there was any confusion, I'm not on a payroll, just getting contracted work. Either way, I was very excited to hear that.

    Thank you guys.

    GO MAROOO GO!

Like V, I am also taking today off work because I have been working a lot of weekends and I deserve a day off. I am going to play my music loud and do a little house cleaning, and then go to the beach!

I had two pleasant dreams last night that started my day off right. It's been a while since I had any sort of dream, so this was particularly amazing.

The first one was that moomoo brought me and a few of my friends to this HUGE rave at a water park. I seemed to know everyone that was actually working it, so after it was over we got to stay and walk around and we ended up coming across several hundred dollars each.

My second dream was that I won a performance at an outdoor park from Fever Ray. It was me and 300 people that I choose. Karin baked a few cakes before the show because it was my belated birthday. She had a few members from her band sing to me, but she didn't come out. She came on stage with no make-up on and sang and then turned into this alien creature, but alas it was only a special effect. Out of the stage doors in the middle erupt Karin in a Rhino costume and fog and crazy lights. She then proceeded to sing a BRAND NEW SONG. It was so terrifying and incredible I woke up clinging to my pillow.

I am extremely glad I went back to bed for an extra hour.

What's up thread?! I am officially on vacation and won't be back into work until next Wednesday. Tonight I'm going to eat pizza and watch my just purchased Season 2 of The Wire. Massive Attack-->Aeroplane-->Sasquatch. And I start moving into my new house tomorrow. OH YEAH!

I've been making my way through The Wire the past few weeks and I'd have to say Season 2 was the weakest, which isn't even saying it's bad but definitely the weakest. I just finished Season 3 and can't wait to get to 4. Best series I've ever watched.

Congrats on a new house by the way. (don't want to spoil the good vibes)

Soon this thread will be dominated by happy people in Hawaii. I can foresee it now.

I am spending the day overseeing an event for work at this gorgeous and massive house on a stream in the back of Nuuanu Valley. I prepared for the event really well in advance, so today all I have to do is give a little talk and then sit back and listen to the water gurgling, watch the birds fly around and perch on the monkeypod trees outside, and let the event run itself. Life is good.
