My daughter took a cooking class and is going to make us mozzarella stuffed meatballs. That sounds like heaven.

So I just finished eating those chicken sandwich/burgers. They were good don't get me wrong but they didn't really have that fast food feel to it like I was aiming for. That might just very well be because of all the added crap they add to the chicken. Also I didn't have nearly enough bread crumbs required to bread them so I just mixed the remaining amount in the the egg to help act as a binding agent. Overall though I'm pretty happy with the finished product.

If you're going for the tyson chicken patty that I'm imagining, you have to add a lot of crap to it like you said. Easier to buy them at Costco if that's what you're craving.

Next time you can always just have floured them, or used corn starch/potato starch.

Yeah it would have been easier to buy them at Costco but I had defrosted ground chicken I had to use. I would have never even thought of using flour on them. Even though I like to cook that is one example of my inexperience with it.

    Is there a baking thread?

Or can I mention some bomb cookies here?
    Crushed Oreo Cookies
Except I nix the chocolate chips, and cookie filling. It's such a simple spin, but it's so delicious!!
    And S'mores Cookies

So the Crushed Oreo cookies are cookies within cookies? Interesting.

I don't think anyone is going to object to a good cookies recipe in any thread. Well I know I wouldn't.

Tonight I made three recipes from the September issue of Bon Appetit -- all taken from the menu of Ava Gene's in Portland, one of their 10 Best New Restaurants for 2013:

    (1) Fried Farro with Pickled Carrots and Runny Eggs
    (2) Carrot and Beet Slaw with Pistachios and Raisins
    (3) Celery Salad with Dates, Almonds, and Parmesan

So freaking delicious. I'm seriously looking forward to cooking my way through this issue in a way that I don't always do each month because there are so many interesting yet totally approachable and easy options.

Mmmm, I love farro. I don't believe I've ever had it fried, though. That looks amazing!

    Boo to beets and dates.

On a 1-10 scale what was the difficulty level of that dish. I want to attempt it. It looks otherworldly delicious.

    Date shakes
    Whiskey Sour

    2 oz blended whiskey
    Juice of 1/2 lemon
    1/2 tsp powdered sugar
    1 cherry
    1/2 slice lemon

Shake blended whiskey, juice of lemon, and powdered sugar with ice and strain into a whiskey sour glass. Decorate with the half-slice of lemon, top with the cherry, and serve.

That's about it. It's pretty basic. And if doing a julienne for the carrots and beets isn't your thing, you could always just box grate it all and get a comparable general effect.

    1. Think of common phrase involving the word "walk".
    2. Replace "walk" with "wok"
    3. Google new wry wok phrase
    4. See asian restaurants with this name
    5. Repeat.

Alternatively as well, if you have a cuisinart/robot coupe with a julienne blade, its easy as pie.

Or, work on your knife skills and learn to julienne!

If I ever open a Chinese restaurant, it's gonna be called More Hunan Than Hunan.
