The title says it all. These are the THREE predictions that I will stand by.
I could (and probably will) be wrong. But, dammit.. I think its pretty solid.

I think you can count on:

TV On The Radio sub-headlining...
Just like My Morning Jacket last year, a lot of people will think "WTF?!" .. But they are as (if not more) popular than MMJ and their newest album has got GREAT reviews all around. And MMJ and TVOTR were billed 3rd line in 06. Count on it.. And be glad.

Deerhunter in the Mojave around 9/10pm...
I think it would be perfect to give them Animal Collective's spot from last year. They have been HUGE this passed year, but they might be a little alienating for the Outdoor and TOO popular for the Gobi @ 3pm. (yes, I'm still bitter about Battles)

Tom Waits, anyone?...
This next one's a little far-fetched.. But I still think Tom Waits will show up at Coachella. I think that Tom Waits (if he's there) will be the Portishead of '09. He'll sub-headline (under god-knows-who) and be one of the "Ha-ha! Look who we got!" gets of '09.

So that's it. I bring this up only because I want to kill some time before the lineup is announced and I want to keep it focused on these 3 possibilities.

dude, tom waits was one of my headliner predictions. i think he would be the ultimate sunset act (and best surprise). i saw him during PEHDSTCKJMBA (in P) this year, so i can die happy. but he should headline, trust me. if any band is offered to play after him they should reject the proposal out of respect.

by the way tom waits tickets were $105 a pop this summer, so he may be out of the price range UNLESS he headlines (but still probably way out).

And there is two ways to look at summer tours vs. Coachella. Either they already toured and its "too late for them to play" OR.. it can be a sort of wrap-up, more open to the masses celebration of an outstanding tour from the previous year. You dig?
