Exactly. I remember because a couple friends were trying to get rid of Friday and Sunday tickets. Pre-Prince, they were going for around $50 each on ebay and Saturday tickets were $150.

I'm sorry, what is this talk of people not knowing who Blur are? Is this Lollapalooza or Coachella? Is everyone going this year under 15?

Hey, a lot of people my age still think Radiohead is that "Creep" band.

I know, but people who think Radiohead had 1 song in the early 90s aren't usually the ones going to Coachella.

Thanks Frank, it's good to be back. Seriously, how much will you freak if Blur and/or Pulp play?? Are you camping or staying in a hotel, IM me later tonight I have to start planning this.

Yeah, those are the ones that think Jack Johnson is a genius and still couldn't be bothered to go see him in the desert last year.

If I can find someone willing to split a cheap hotel and the cost with me, I am hoteling it. Fuck being sick for three weeks after the weekend yet again.

I would die for a Pulp reunion, and I hope the fact that I begged Paul Tollett for it helps, but I can't imagine it would. It would be nice if they were playing because Blur refused. Yeah, word is no Blur. That JustSteve guy is a pretty reliable source. I mean, he posted pics of Bjork from the stage, so he has to be connected.

What acts do you think/hope plays?

It's ok, I was with Frank last year when his allergies nearly killed him (and lived through the Coachella Camp Flu Epidemic 07), and if that didn't do it, this will.

I thought it was confirmed Bowie was out?

If I get to see Blur with Coxon I fear I'd not recover.

Yeah, I think Bowie can't play because of his heart situation. As in evar.

I really need an absolute cannot miss this year or two (Pulp, even Jarvis solo, Blur, The Smiths, Bowie, The Knife, etc) or I might just save the money I'd spend on Coachella for Japan.

Are you camping or hoteling it or what?

If camping, I highly recommend taking the train. That was so awesome. Even without the free VIP upgrades, it would have been epic for the ability to not just get up and walk around but to dance to the DJs playing. Everyone was passed out on the ride home, though.

everyone knows that "nobody loves me" song when it comes to Portishead... see how obnoxious you sound?

everyone knowing Song 2 doesn't mean that was their only single, it means it was their biggest, that's all. For the record, "Girls & Boys" was a hit song years before whoo-hoo! Beetlebum and Coffee & TV were also hit singles...

i've said it once, and i'll say it again, people under the age of 25 prefer Gorillaz over Blur cause they're too young to know better... people over 25 prefer Blur because they were around to know better...
Yes, people would care if Morrissey got his guitarist back. Much more than Blue anyways. Why? because it changes the billing of the artist. They would then be billed as "The Smiths." That would be a HUGE deal. If in 2003 Blur were billed as something like "Damon Albarn" or "Damon Albarn and Friends" and were now billed as Blur, that would mean something. But for the most part, the majority of people wouldn't know the difference between 2003 Blur and 2009 Blur.

Also, I know very few people who know Portishead. All the people I know, if they know Portishead, they know Portishead. If they don't know Portishead... they really know who Portishead are. I don't know anybody who knows that "Nobody loves me" song.

And Blur may have had hits before Song 2, but does anyone in North America remember them now? No. No they don't.

Yeah, I'd say you guys are way out of luck with Portishead (that was LAST year) and Jarvis (he already played 2 years ago and he just played solo in 08 at Pitchfork).

This whole "no one knows Portishead or Blur" is beyond silly. You need to find friends with better taste.

Yes. Yes they do... (if they are over the age of 25 anyway...)

And we're out of luck for Pulp, Bowie, Smiths, Radiohead, The Knife because they are all pipe dreams.

But if Jarvis doesn't play Coachella again this year, I don't see him playing anywhere in America at all. He only comes over for a festival, and then throws a couple gigs here and there on the way there or on the way home, and those are the only two fests educated enough to book him in this country. I don't see him playing Lollapalooza or Bonnaroo.

If he plays APW, I'm going to be so pissed. But I guess that makes sense. I mean, NYC got two shows in 2007, two in 2008, so a night or two at APW seems like the next step. And LA gets nothing again.

Ha, I met this girl at UCLA that asked "Is this Coldplay?" when "Karma Police" came on the radio.

Oh yeah, I know Coachella is far better, I'm just saying I have a bad feeling Jarvis will end up there instead of Coachella.

Treasure Island, followed by a local show would be nice.

I loved APW...I don't know what your talking about...there wasn't a single Radiohead setlist on the tour that was really all that different..it was like the 2001 or 2003 tour...Sure, APW's line up needed more meat on the bones but that setting was stunning...

I kind of wish I had gone to APW instead of Florida. After the rental car fiasco, it wouldn't have been that much more. But then again, Florida got The Tourist and Bulletproof. But then again, APW was in NYC and had some good openers.

    Cymbal Rush is stunning live.
