Rapper/producer Aesop Rock's first solo album in five years, Skelethon, is scheduled for release on July 10 through Rhymesayers. It features guest spots from Kimya Dawson (he's working on a collaborative project with her called Uncluded, too), Rob Sonic, DJ Big Wiz, Allyson Baker of Dirty Ghosts, Hanni El Khatib, and more.

- PEARL JAM WHY YOU HATE COACHELLA? -
Last minute decision to go see Slaughterhouse last night. It was a surprisingly good show. The crowd demographic was lame, as expected, but the club itself was packed with a lot of energy. The group has a really good stage chemistry together and they were really thankful for the support. They basically bust each other's balls between every song, and it's pretty funny. Crooked I is far and away the best emcee out of the bunch, he crushes everything. My favorite part was when they reenacted the BET cypher over the same beat. Everybody killed except Crooked I, who afterward did a nasty acappella with punchlines for days. He ended it with, "AZ been reppin' me, so fuck SB 1070." It was dope.
seriously you guyz Future's album, Pluto is fucking great, although I guess it's not entirely "rap". It's like 808's and Heartbreak, but not a total snooze-fest. It's like Drake, if Drake's music wasn't a pile of putrid donkey shit.
"You Deserve It" is my favorite song of the year. In any genre. I'm sure a lot of people here will hate it. Oh well.
I like the Future album a lot. Reminds me of my senior year in high school ('08-'09) except with better, catchier melodies/beats. ie: TI Whatever You Like
edit: dig this song

Lol... I think it's safe to say you're about 3 years behind. Jerkin was pretty big in 08-09 if I recall... at least with high school kids on the west coast. Maybe it's just now reaching the masses.

yeah jerking was extremely popular at my school a couple years ago (i just graduated last year), they'd have "jerking competitions" every Friday. Last year was more the "shuffling" year. Needless to say my school was complete shit

This Killer Mike album is really something else. Between this and Future's album I'd say that the Dungeon Family have 2012 on lock right now (although that new Goodie Mob song was pretty atrocious). Both albums are completely different but for me they are the two best rap/hip-hop records this year.
ROCK THE BELLS LINEUP ANNOUNCEMENT at HOB tonight... won tix awhile back via FB, anyone else attending or know who the surprise group will be?
per RTB:
We know you all have been dying for some Rock the Bells leaks, so here's one for you:
One of hip-hop’s most influential groups will be reunited at this year’s Launch Party!
In order to have all members together for the first time in years,
we have decided to move the Launch Party to Tuesday, May 15th.
Trust us—this group is worth one extra week of anticipation.

That is extremely disappointing if true, Bone Thugs always announce tours saying it'll be all 5, and it's just 3 of them. Sometimes 4, fuck that shit. I'm sure it's what it is though.
