I don't. Always figured the Beatles were overrated (as in overplayed), and he hasn't done anything to catch my ear since then.

Also, after the Roger Waters thing (which ruled), having a grey-hair at the top of the poster might give the wrong impression.

    IMO - listening suggestions welcome.

Not really interested. I have great respect for Paul, especially his work with The Beatles, but I don't want to see him at Coachella.

No, I don't. Did anyone see his Super Bowl performance a couple of years ago? It was just boring.

The impression that GV can book just about anyone they want? The impression that this festival isn't 100% electronic, indie, and brit-pop acts? The impression that Coachella has something for everyone?

Either way, I don't see a problem here.

Man, the Beatles were overrated like gravity is overrated. You can not like the Beatles or whatever- that's fine- but they are straight-up the black hole at the center of the pop (and, to a considerably lesser extent, rock) galaxy, a supermassive collapsed star from which light no longer escapes, but around which the rest of the objects inexorably orbit.

Say what you want, but statements like "the Beatles were overrated" make me much less likely to listen to anything you say afterward.

The Beatles were overrated? They may be overplayed, but do yourself a favor and go listen to those albums again. However. NO PAUL MCCARTNEY!!!

I would love to see Paul at Coachella, I guess you guys haven't seen his performence at Red Square in Russia, he was the shit.

    Paul McCartney > Roger Waters

And if you're saying The Beatles are over-rated then go fuck yourself. You don't know great music when you hear it. Plus if it wasn't for them, most bands wouldn't be here

eh, i could go either way. he falls into the "i won't pay to see him anywhere else so i might as well see him at coachella" category for me. kind of a strange bonus artist, but definitely not the reason i will go to coachella in '09.

I didn't say they weren't a good, super-influential band. I said they were overrated. The beatles are overrated like Christmas is overrated. Like sex is overrated. ESPECIALLY like the 60s are overrated. As in; i'm sick of fucking hearing about them. No, I don't need to "go listen to their albums again" to change my mind. If I hear them one more time, I'll puke! NO BAND is as good as people think the Beatles were.

(I should probably have kept my opinion re: the Beatles to myself, because if there is a sacred cow in music, it's them.)

ok...so I can understand if you don't like the Beatles..some of their music is a little too cheery for some...I got it...but I don't understand how anyone can say they are overrated...they invented entire genres of music...Elenor Rigby...did anything pop or rock related sound like that prior to that track? Tomorrow Never Knows invented the Chemical Brothers 30 years prior to their ever putting out their first records...I mean...maybe it is just a backlash do to all the praise they have gotten but I would never say that they were overrated....

This is completely irrelevant. Half of the Coachella bands have a shitfest for a new album. When was the last time Weezer or NIN or RHCP put out something good? The latest releases from The Verve, The Cure, Bjork, Tool were all mehsville. Has anyone even heard any of Prince's material from the 00's? Not saying it's bad, just that I haven't heard it and I know a lot of others haven't either. When was the last time Kraftwerk even attempted new material? How bad is the solo Roger Waters stuff? The last Blur album was inexcusably terrible, and Oasis has been re-releasing the same album since 1995. And don't get me started on one-album-wonders in the indie world like Bloc Party and Interpol. So to single out someone that's actually rare and new to Coachella for reasons that can be easily applied to so many other acts is a bit hypocritical.

And he would only play one or two songs from said new album, which is less than any other act would play.

overplayed? over rated? These are terms that do not fit in with The Beatles.

Watch The Beatles Anthology and maybe you'd have a little more respect for them
