buying tickets from someone off craigslist

I'm buying 1 ticket for a concert from someone from craigslist. . I've never used pay pal before but he just sent me an link from paypal in which to pay him from.

Having never bought from a stranger nor used pay pal, any good suggestions on making sure the tickets are legit before I pay him?
He seems cool, but who knows these days

if the tickets aren't legit you can dispute the payment using paypal.

Don't trust the link, it could be fake. All you need is the email address that he has registered with PayPal, and then go to PayPal on your own to pay.

You should be fine, Paypal requires a tracking number to proof delivery (so if he never sends them you'd get a refund), but the one risk is someone sending an empty envelope. That becomes a matter of he said she said. Why not meet up in person to buy them?

If he wants money through paypal there is no reason to go to any link EVER. All you need is his email address. Sounds like a scam to me. Bware. Meet up in person before the show or something. Never send money via paypal on craigslist. Ebay is safer for that sort of thing.

Ebay at least has feedback. Ebay purchases through paypal are much safer than sending a random person money as well as ebay purchases are guaranteed by paypal. I would feel much more comfortable buying from someone on ebay than i would sending some random person cash via paypal and hoping they send what they are supposed to.

This particular situation should raise flags because he sent a paypal link. All you need to do is have someones email address to send money via paypal. If it's a link it's probably a ghosted site they set up to scam money. Maybe it's not but I wouldn't trust it until I got more details or talked tot he person on the phone to feel them out a bit more.

did he also post pics of the tics on craigslist? that might only mean he has some, but it a small point ... also go online and see if it isnt a show that has sold out, call ticketmaster and see if you can buy the tics that he posted (the seat numbers of course) ... lastly, i have bought maybe 5 times that way and never been burnt, but i am sometimes lucky ... cr****

I've sold tickets off Craigslist when I had last minute things affect my concert plans. It's easier to meet in person in a very public place. I usually have the people come to the grocery store parking lot near my apartment during the day, and it usually ends up being 15 year old boys with their mom. Haha.
