The Smiths are not set to reunite despite reports, NME.COM understands.

Sources close to both members of the band and Coachella have denied that there has been any new move to reunite the group for next year's festival.

A British newspaper had claimed The Smiths were considering burying the hatchet for next year's event.

Meanwhile, the group's guitarist Johnny Marr's manager dismissed the story, telling our sister title Uncut that the Smiths reunion rumours were \"rubbish\".

Morrissey has previously claimed he was offered a near £40 million for just him and Smiths guitarist Marr to reunite for the Californian event in 2006.

A new double-CD compilation spanning the band's career, 'The Sound Of The Smiths', is released on November 10.

and that article isn't even factual it claims that Coachella offered the Marr and Moz to reunite for 40 million pounds. Moz claimed that they offered him 5 million to reunite with the Smiths not just Marr the 40 million pounds was another offer to do a world tour and the only deal was that the lineup for The Smiths had to include Marr.

NME: another reputable news source. You don't think money can change someone's mind in two months time? And besides, I would deny it too if I was the promoters and it hadn't been announced yet. Not that I could give a fuck about the Smith's or think that there is any validity to the rumors but I don't think the NME post has a scrap of merit.
