    Default Tom Waits?

I've noticed that his name doesn't appear to often on these threads. I was just wondering how you would all feel about Tom Waits as a Coachella headliner. I think it would amazing if it were to happen! He has immense appeal and is such a rarity to see live. What are your thoughts? Do you think he would ever perform at Coachella?

I am always for Tom Waits. I don't think he would headline because he's developed himself a cult status now, but I think it would be great. I saw him a Bridge School Benefit but he only played for like 30 minutes. Even still it depth charged the other acts.

No sir. No sir. I dare your precious Apostle Paul to drag me out to the desert to dance for you apes.

Yeah, i see what you're saying. It would definitely be a dream come true if it did happen. I just feel like if he performed at Coachella it would be my only chance to see him. Thanks to his touring schedule and the insane rate at which his tickets sell.

If he doesn't play at Coachella, at least set up a date in LA for crying out loud.

I'm not so sure he'd headline. I see him as a sunset slot.

i fully support this thread supporting tom waits. to my understanding, he does not like the west coast very much. but fuck that. coachella needs him.

The only problem I have with this idea is that I can't bear to think of Waits trying to do his set with noise from the other stages/tents infiltrating his immediate sonic landscape. Picture him trying to do an intimate version of "Innocent When You Dream" while some Sahara/Gobi techno or second stage bullshit blasts in the background... Unpleasant.

I had the pleasure of seeing Tom twice this summer. During one song, a security guards walkie talkie was so loud you could hear it over tom. Tom told him to turn off the walkie talkie. That was cool. Tom wont ever play Coachella. Even after all the "when hell freezes over" bands come and go (Pixies, maybe the Smiths or Replacements) Tom will never play. Coachella isn't the Bridge School Benefit. I'd love to see Tom or Tricky over another craptasitc Jack Johnson set or the band 9 out of 10 thirteen year old girls prefer, the Killers.
Frozen Pilgrim: I think coldplay, the killers, and maroon 5 should just tour together all the time. then one day, I can firebomb the stadium they're in, killing all three bands and 60K of their mindless fans

Tom Waits on Friday hooting n hollering at sundown would be a loin tingling experience... It is time Tom we need you!
