i forget what the computer help thread is called. i'm sure we need an "my ipod sucks, help me fix it thread", but i have a question and am just going to ask here.

does anyone find that itunes does not always transfer the order of albums or show the correct names correctly onto the ipod?

for example, miss saigon disc 2 displays correctly on my itunes, but does not play in order on my ipod and shows it in a different order that does not match what is displayed on the ipod. or right now, i'm listening to the fragile, but it is playing in some funky order that makes no sense to me.

i also have some songs that have the correct artist listed in itunes, such as taj mahal. but the artist does not appear on my ipod, only some of the songs display on the ipod when they all display on itunes.

i'm long overdue for a new ipod. i've reached capacity & my battery sucks. but i'm just curious if this sounds like an issue with my ipod specifically, or if it's just something shitty in the itunes/ipod software before i go buying something.

anyone else experience this crap?

I'm having the same issue too except that the order it goes in is that the last song on the playlist is the last one I uploaded.

Can anyone recommend a good and not too expensive laser printer for home use that is Mac compatible? It doesn't need to be color.

Ok. If it is really old, just get a new one. You get one that is far better than the one you have, with no issues, and for very little $$.

It's a Konica Minolta PagePro 1350W.

Yeah, that is at least 4-5 years old. Do you only want b&w? What are you printing? You can get color printers that work with Mac (they pretty much all do these days) for less than you probably paid for the Konica. If you want a bit more, you can get a personal color laser printer (or an all in one).

I don't care if it's color or not, I just want it to be cheap and I don't want the print-out to be identifiable as an ink jet because I hate that sort of dotty look.

The inkjets now are much better than they were before. Some are near, or at, laser quality. If you can, I would go to a local store, and ask for some print samples.

so I bought this mac mini in November that I am generally pleased with. except that I don't think I got enough memory. Apple wants $gazillion to sell me memory chips. online retailer will sell me what appears to be the same chips (DDR3 2x4GB 1066 MHz) for about 1/3 of what Apple is asking. Is there any reason why I shouldn't do this? The guy at the Apple store basically told me not to buy memory from Apple and to get it online instead, so I'm thinking I'm ok.

Yes, it's fine to use non-Mac approved RAM in your Mac Mini. They are a pain in the ass to open up, so be forewarned.

no the new minis are quite easy to open up. they changed that design with the version 3 this year.

You should have at least two in case one goes down. That's what she said. MX is DNS, it's a type of DNS record. If your host is halfway competent at UI design it should be obvious which are MX records and which are just subdomain control.
