Okay, I'm over it. If they WANTED to play Coachella and aren't gonna get to, there'll definitely be an LA date. Yay!!

have they been worth seeing since 2003? if not, I fully support this decision.

I'm not commenting on the band's music at all with this. The sequence of posts on that thread are tragically funny.
    "Are you coming?"
"I think so. We have a REALLY good chance of it!!!!!"
    "YAYYYYYY!!!!"
    "we didn't get it..."

    Whom-whom-whommmmmmm

Pull it off?! They KILLED in '03. What's any different now, besides them having put out another fantastic album (which admittedly took a little time to stick, but nonetheless a damn good piece of work!)?

FYI, I've never seen them I've only heard things other people have told me.

I know I would be happy with their presence but will everyone else be happy without new material from them?

So not cool. The better play a good venue in LA then. They haven't toured in forever.

Me too. And all I remember is the pants being forcefully sucked off of him. It was hysterical.

I ended my night in their tent that year, I must admit, their show was definitely one of the highlights of that year, but in many ways it was also pretty gimmicky. After all they were basically lip-syncing to a CD player ( they even admitted this in the end of their set, where they played Emerge twice in a row). I'd want to see them do something different this time. I heard they actually played live during their last tour, did anyone see them?
Coachella 01' - 13' and still counting..... 13th year!!!! Geez, I'm getting old..

I saw them play a live show at House of Blues Anaheim in 2005. Great Live! I don't know why they (Casey)would lip sync anything. I know they do DJ sets sometimes. They were great with the full band, costume changes, and dancers.

Saw them throw their awe inspiring Ibiza parties. Saw them in SF, saw them in NY..

way better when they do a full live show. though when Casey dj'd at monster massive that was pretty cool too.

Yeah I looked at it as a more Post Modern type performance, if there is such a thing. Lots of theatrics, confetti, choreographed dancing, with some trash talking to the audience from what I remember.

When they first started Emerge, something happened to the CD player in the middle of the song, and they couldn't just play back from where it messed up, so Casey basically yelled, just play it over again "after all it's a CD" or something to that effect and they just basically started the song again.

It did get a good response though, so not sure if that was intended.

The Knife lip-syncs quite a bit too and uses all of the bizarre costumes, lights, dancing, and whatnot. I don't have a problem with it but some people do, just like some people have it with Fischerspooner. Post Modern type performance is a good way to categorize these types of things.

I'm 99% sure Casey didn't dj at monster massive. Back then, at least, Fischerspooner "DJ sets" consisted of Warren Fischer and Jon Kane. No Casey.

And that set was pretty lame. But if I had thought Casey was actually up there spinning records I probably would've been tricked into enjoying it too.

Maybe this is actually good news. Perhaps the reason Fischerspooner didn't make the cut even though it's been more than 5 years since they were last there and they seem like a reasonably popular act (more so than the numerous DJs who are going to occupy the Sahara during the first 5 hours of each day, at least) is that Goldenvoice is pulling out all the stops with the dance tent this year. Perhaps the wish lists that included Orbital, the Knife, Chemical Brothers, the Prodigy, and Basement Jaxx, among others, will ALL be fulfilled. One can only hope.

I would kill to see Orbital, but I really doubt they will play...they make it sound like that show in August of next year or whenever is their first show back (and only show so far).
