it's going to coldplay. it's more mainstream. i'll never forgive the Grammys for giving Album of the Year to Outkast instead of the White Stripes. if it were any other album, sure, but Elephant. bullshit.

and the Raconteurs should walk away with a trophy this year. the Grammys love JW.

I was pretty amazed when I read the story on Pitchfork and now even more so as I see the full list. The album of the year choices are fricking awesome. And the Alternative albums, which are usually the best of the bunch, are all owned by me. That's got to be a first.

i assumed they were nominated in some obscure "rock" or "alternative" category. if not, then i'm shocked.

EDIT: nominated for Best Rock Album. that's going to Coldplay.

this made me like the Grammys more than the Oscars for a second:

Best Score Soundtrack Album For Motion Picture, Television Or Other Visual Media
(Award to Composer(s) for an original score created specifically for, or as a companion to, a current legitimate motion picture, television show or series or other visual media.)

    The Dark Knight
James Newton Howard & Hans Zimmer, composers
    [Warner Sunset/Warner Bros.]

Indiana Jones And The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull
    John Williams, composer
    [Concord Records]

    Iron Man
    Ramin Djawadi, composer
    [Lionsgate]

    There Will Be Blood
    Jonny Greenwood, composer
    [Nonesuch Records]

    Wall-E
    Thomas Newman, composer
    [Walt Disney Records/Pixar]

since the Oscars won't acknowledge "The Dark Knight" or "There Will Be Blood" for technicalites.
"That's the most gangster punk rock shit out there."- Z-Trip showing his love for Paul Tollett

Actually I now think Plant and Krauss will win, and being that it's the only modern album that I find tolerable in my father's car I guess it would not be so bad. I can't name a tolerable album of the year winner in recent memory...

AGREED! the white stripes always win.

    Is coldplay considered "rock"? really?

and that Plant/Krausse album is awesome. Not album of the year, but its damn good

I don't get what makes the Raconteurs "rock" and the others "alternative" but regardless, yes, they should win that thing!

And I'll probably only watch if they get some kickass performances going. Which I'm thinking they will. Radiohead and M.I.A. would be awesome. And No Age is nominated for best recording package (??) they should play Eraser!
